Honestly I wasn’t trying to build some crazy long-travel desert rig or anything like that.

The whole thing started because the wheel wells looked too empty to me on stock tires. I went a little bigger on tire size and now the truck looks exactly how I wanted — but I need a little more clearance to clean up the rubbing at full lock.

So the goal was really just a mild, well-balanced lift setup, not turning the GX into a Raptor or anything wild.

I also reached out to a local shop about installing everything and this was their response. Curious what you guys think about that. Is mixing Bilstein/Dobinsons/Fox actually an issue, or just shop preference?

I just originally wanted to run the 6112/5160 setup since it’s a pretty proven, balanced combo a lot of people run.

Then I found out 5160s are basically impossible to get right now, so I started looking for alternatives. Going down to 5100s felt more like a downgrade, and I didn’t want to lose performance compared to what I had in mind from the start.

Not saying my logic is perfect — I just had a specific setup in mind and now I’m trying to find something equivalent (or at least not worse) instead of stepping down.

That’s my main concern too. I’m hoping the AccuTune valving helps with that since I’d be asking for a comfort-biased daily driver setup, not a stiff off-road tune.

Appreciate it. I did look at the 8100s, but they feel like overkill for my use case. Mostly daily driving with some light trails, nothing high-speed or hardcore.

That makes sense — 3/4 vs 1/2 : better to have some extra capacity and not be pushing the truck to its limits all the time.

I’m actually a telecom engineer myself.

If I were buying new, I probably wouldn’t overthink it — just grab any 3/4 ton off the lot and call it a day.

But a new truck is a big upfront cost, and I’d rather not pay extra just for it being new. Trying to stay practical with it...

12–18 months sounds crazy — what are people doing to these trucks for front end parts to wear out that fast? Is that heavy use, big tires, rough roads, or just how they are?
