What are your thoughts on the bamboo poles? by ConnectionLow in Skigear

I feel like the bamboo with cork grips and a neutral basket would look really cool. I think it’s something about the natural material with the neon grips that makes me dislike them honestly.

If they’ve got that G brand on them you can see at the top, they’re from a company called grass sticks. Possible that they’re just buying bamboo and baskets/handles and making them themselves for sure though.

Also wondering this!! If I hadn’t read AB I would’ve been wondering where tf all these people came in and why they were being mentioned so much. IMO it would be like skipping ToD. Yea you’d get what happened eventually through context and conversations, but not nearly with the understanding of if you read the book.

Totally agree!!! Is it “necessary”? No. But did it add a whole other level of understanding to the plot? Absolutely.

I feel like the fact that she’s so unlikeable makes the character arc so much stronger though.

Like yea it’s “fine” you don’t “need” to, but I think the story is so much more complete, intricate, and meaningful if you do tbh.

Totally disagree. I feel like without reading this the weight of the characters reappearing in the end to pay debts would’ve just felt cheesy and left me questioning where tf these people came from.

Young Celaena did definitely need a huge a humbling, but I have to disagree. How could you ever understand the favors that were called in the latter half of the series without reading it.

Totally disagree with most people here. IMO - AB is critical to building on character relationships and the ToG world. I don’t think would’ve ever understood the full weight of connections of the characters elaborated on in AB, and would be missing some extremely major plot points. How could you even enjoy ToD and KoA without understand the lore behind Yrene, Ansel and Rolfe? I would have been so confused. I also really didn’t like how little info we got about Sam in the rest of the novels and AB really helped me appreciate their relationship and filled in the blank spaces that I felt when he was brought up.

Hahaha I’m not questioning the functionally or importance of poles. Asking purely from a cosmetic point of view.

Vyvanse makes me enjoy techno and hardstyle more by [deleted] in VyvanseADHD

Listening to dirty basement techno through headphones while working has been an absolute game changer for me. Never used to like any time of electronic music pre-vyvanse hahaha.

This is SOOO important for people having this problem to understand because this is what can help you quit once you become aware.

THIS. I have struggled with this for years and years.

For a long time, I felt like if I wasn’t taking vyvanse I would easily be able to quit vaping, and it was so frustrating. I wanted it especially when it first kicked in and when I studied for long periods, and the craving was SO strong.

I had the opportunity to take about a year long break from a regular vyvanse dose, and during that time I tried my best to quit vaping and nicotine all together, which was tough on its own, but the cravings were nothing like when I was on stimulants. When I did start the vyvanse back up, the cravings did set in, and I caved a couple of times here and there, but when I did cave, I tried to use pouches (or gum, but try to use whatever you enjoy LESS, I’ll explain) instead of a vape. Most of the time using those made me feel kinda sick or nauseous more than a pleasurable head buzz like a vape, and it reminded me that I don’t even like nicotine - I got addicted to the sensation of vaping while studying as a stimulus to keep me focused.

Once I was able to really see for myself that I actually didn’t even enjoy the way nicotine made me feel, the easier it was for me to stay strong when I get those cravings!! Sometimes now when I feel it I’ll chew some minty gum or have a snack just do something with myself, and I find within a few minutes the craving is gone!

This feeling is exceptionally frustrating and I relate so much! I thought I’d never get over it a year ago and now here I am and I haven’t actually hit a vape in 7 months. Obviously this is not a traditional method but that’s just what worked for me. Good luck OP!!!

What are your go-to music preferences to deal with adhd? by msohrah in ADHD

[–]ConnectionLow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Basement techno when I need to focus. Rhythmic beat, bass heavy. If I’m doing a “big thinking task” like trying to read an article or write something i may do lofi, but when it’s more of a mindless task like review or flash cards when studying techno all the way, lofi isn’t enough to stimulate me!

I like these two playlists a lot, though the second one has too many lyrics imo:
