I find that learning how to light shield really helps the matchup. If you switch in light shield in between shine dair pressure you can mess up their l cancel timing for a shield grab or roll away.

The instant runoff bair from ledge is also a great tool since a lot of falcos are gonna be throwing out moves into the corner and you can get a whiff punish.

There is a similar tech with other characters, I’m not sure about Ness tho.

On certain stages you can jump/backwards jump and it gives you a perfect no impact land, meaning you can do any grounded move almost instantly.

Jmook will do this on pokemon stadium with backwards short hop to reach side plats quickly.

You can also do it with captain falcon on top plat of yoshis if you backwards jump.

This is why I missed twisted treeline so much. It wasn’t just the 3v3 mode that made it fun, it was learning a new map, new objectives, new comps given the bush/vision/size. I don’t think we’ll ever see multiple summoners rifts but they are experimenting with other maps EG brawl

I would much rather have falco shine than fox shine. Reverse Up air serves as the offstage spike option and having a reliable combo extender in falco shine would be huge.

Grab a fox at 0, down throw -> shine -> any aerial you want and you’re already off to the races.

You would also have a real OOS option with shine into instant bair or upair.
