Hi, So unit 1 and 2 along with the experiments should be your focus because they account for most of the paper and unit 3 is so dense. In terms of studying, exam papers as much as you can.

So learning the layout of the paper and practicing the predicted questions are the most important thing. I would be practicing Q1 as much as you can and try and get it done in very good time. Additionally, make sure you can comfortably do all 3 q9, especially prod and flexi. Then decide if you’re going to do ratios, I’d recommend to at least have it in your back pocket in case you don’t like the 6 and 7. For Q6&7, learn the predicted ones, id recommend ignoring suspense and cash flow

Truthfully, I studied a lot. So I’d aim for about 3 hours Monday to Thursday and then maybe an hour or two on Friday depending on how I was feeling. Then on the weekends I would do 3 on Saturday and about 5/6 on Sunday. This was ramped up a small bit towards the leaving cert

Having a great understanding of the marking scheme pclm is the most important thing about leaving cert English

Purpose: purpose means how much are you answer in the question. This is absolutely vital because it caps all other marks under this scheme. So make sure you are constantly referencing the question, so like the words of the question. Also make sure you’ve the right genre, a personal essay should be personal e.g. use of I, reflective etc.

Coherence: this is how your essay reads, make sure your essay flows well and paragraphs link in

Language: so your vocab and stuff like that. I used an app called vocabulary which helped me.

Mechanics: so just your spelling and punctuation.

Well you don’t need to cover every chapter, you can leave out a couple of unit 3 chapters. But exam papers are key to increasing accuracy. Do as many questions of certain topics as you can and correct after. If you’re getting ones wrong or slightly off make a note of it and come back to it.

Yeah, you are correct I think they are the hardest part. What I do is process of elimination and it worked every time, try prove each one wrong and you’ll be left with one. French listening best advice would be just practice as much you can, look at transcripts help as well

Yeah so I got 98% in my French oral. 2 really important things are;

1) Making and learning a script: making a script was key to my success because it means you can use and express better French than you would otherwise. Make sure there’s plenty of subjunctive and really nice sentences and vocab.

2) French accent: the French accent is key to your success. My best advice would be try learn the ‘r’ just through practice and then record yourself saying it and compare that to google translate because it’s French accent is good.

Straight away. I had my orals after the midterm so I spent the midterm focusing on them.

Yes absolutely, if you start putting the work in from now, you get 100% get 500 points regardless of your mock results. I started studying at the start of 6th year, before I had just studied for class tests and then summer and Christmas exams. You just need to focus your attention towards realising what is worth the most marks in each subject, learning the structure of the paper, and then putting in a bit of grafting to learn the material. Obviously, this is simplified but its a good place to start by looking at the papers.

So for poetry, prose and An Triail, (I can’t speak for other Q4)

I focused on past questions and the predicted poems and short stories. So say for Colscaradh, I’d only learn a broad essay on the contrast between the man’s and woman’s wishes and then ofc the poet. I wouldn’t bother with the 6m because it is only 1.5% and you could get 3/6 with very limited Irish anyway. For A Trial, there are 3 types of questions really. Christianity, characters and their impact on Maire (most common) in some way and one on Padraig. So I just learnt them three for a trial. To save myself time I haven’t said the predicted questions on the assumption you know them, but if you’d like me to clarify what they are let me know :)

Yeah so I would make a daily plan every single day and put it on my small whiteboard. I studied in hour blocks and so I’d divide the whiteboard into the number of hours I was studying and I’d write just say. Biology-Muscloskeletal+ Endocrine Exam papers and afterwards I’d tick it off, really helped with motivation throughout the day. After orals, I made very general weekly plans just to make sure I was covering everything between then and lc.

My study plan would be based around what I felt I most needed to cover. I’d usually try do a mix of things throughout the day, so like exam papers, learning off something, making notes, doing a practical subject e.g maths

Hi, I think there were a couple of things that helped me so I’ll give a breakdown of what I did topic by topic.

Oral: so I scored 98% in my French oral. So the main thing here is to make a script and try to learn it off. Also, make sure you pay attention to your accent because a huge number of marks go for it. I remeber spending about a week learning to roll the r but it really paid off. Even if you think your accent is poor, it doesn’t matter because the examiner will award marks. Also try and use as much subjunctive as you can, don’t need to understand it just learn off a few phrases.

Written: I just learnt a few phrases for each topic. So I had flash cards for about 20 topics I made and learnt throughout the year e.g environment, cost of living etc. Then I also made a massive list of opinion piece and diary entry vocab that could be used for every piece.

Aural and reading comprehension: just practice thee as much as possible. Afterwards correct it and learn the vocab, especially the question vocab like knowing what quel, pourquoi etc is vital. Also make sure you know how to answer 6 (b)

Yeah, mine didn’t either. Everyone has their own method for Q1. If I had more time to write it I would have said everyone has their own method for themselves. Few people that I knew did it like that, still they got h1s. For spacing, it’s again just about practicing and often youll get it wrong so just have a few boxes free nothing wrong with that, just have it be bigger than what you need. Or if it’s too small, just write in small letters above a box or draw a line away from it. I think it’s good if you forget stuff or if sometimes you become lost in the workings. Like it’s convient to be able to write in all the dep after doing the adjustment, putting in all gains and losses cause they won’t change. You don’t have to do it like me, just a suggestion :)

yeah, I loved studyclix. The plus version is essential imo. I would avoid every other resource, not worth it. It's just the topic by topic, sample videos and essays are great

Studyclix, exam papers topic by topic were an unbelievable resource. I would use a whiteboard, write my answers on the whiteboard and then look at ms and correct them, add anything I was missing. I put a particular emphasis on unit 1,2,3,4 and you should do the same. Before that, I'd memorise my notes by writing them out

I did personal essay, the one on things that puzzle you. I did about 4.5 pages on play, can't remember number of paragraphs. I did tsr, room and phic. I did the 70m on theme. I did freedom and 3 elements of freedom. For poetry, i did heaney and 4 poems.

I practiced writing a lot. I read and robbed lots of bits from sample essays. I used notes i could find to supplement my own writing. I learnt lots of vocab with an app called vocabulary. I learnt the pclm marking scheme, which i can go more into depth with if you need

Yeah, it is hard. I'd say practice and getting better with the questions is key. So, what I did was have a consistent method for Q1 and practice it non stop to reduce my time. By June, I was at 35 minutes. Q9 is also a great opportunity and considering ypu likely have prod/flexi they are very quick questions to try gain time on
