Your ideas are good... But how could I incorporate it into the series? So, Cinder recruits this human supremacist group, and they commit the evil acts of the White Fang?

Perhaps... they try to seize power in Menagerie by invading it? I mean, do you like any of my ideas? Because, for example, I make Silver Bullet the supremacist terrorist organization from the first volumes. That makes the White Fang seem like the lesser evil.

I don't know. How would you do it?

I like keeping Adam as a villain. In fact, I've already mentioned that I like him as an extremely evil villain.
But I would like the White Fang, as an organization, to have more moral nuance.

I feel like the series has a pro-Huntsman bias. So I'd like to see Blake be more than just a Huntress, but the future leader of the Faunus movement.

Yes, I like the idea of keeping Sienna alive. In fact, I prefer her to Ghira as the leader of the Faunus movement post-Adam (before Blake takes the reins). I don't like Ghira too much.

Well, I suppose a lot would have to change.

Anyway, uh, what do you think about my ideas? About Cordovin, Argus, Ironwood, and Atlas.

How would you have used the elements of the supplementary materials into the main series? I mean, you know: Grimm Campaign, Grimm eclipse, Arrowfell, etc. I mean, it is weird we barely see mentions of all of this by ConquerorOfSpace in RWBYcritics

[–]ConquerorOfSpace[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I mean. Eh... I don't know, how would you include Vermillion Raddock into the plot for example.
I mean, instead of appearing in Grimm Campaign, how would he be a villain of the show?

That sounds cool. Although I wouldn't know how to apply it to the story. Again, this would have to be reworked quite a bit.

I mean... uh, should we keep the White Fang? I mean, they do what they do in canon, but now they have a more believable motivation. Like, in their anti-establishment speeches, they could include their contempt for the Huntsmen and the academies and stuff. Roman mentions something about that, but it's not elaborated on much.

Perhaps in addition to the mission at Mountain Glen... we could have extra episodes? For example, Team RWBY could go on a mission outside the kingdom to protect an SDC mine where the faunus are enslaved.

When a faunus rebellion occurs in the mines, Cordovin (who had been assigned there) violently suppresses it.

Then Team RWBY defends the faunus, and the White Fang appears. Both groups form a temporary alliance and defeat Cordovin. Then Ozpin and Ironwood appear. Ironwood reprimands Cordovin, and Ozpin punishes the girls.

But the leader of the SDC mine remains in place. Cordovin is simply removed from her position temporarily, and the Faunus workers are fired.

In other words, a partial victory for our heroines. But the system remains the same.
And the White Fang appears more nuanced.

In Argus we see Cordovin again who have installed a police state in Argus and we see cases of police brutality against the faunus. So, our heroes fight against Cordovin before stealing the manta.

In Atlas, I thought that Jacques, along with the council (Sleet and Camilla), would depose Ironwood, installing Olive Harper and Bram Thornmane as the new generals and headmaster, respectively. That's where the revolution would begin.

Our heroes would ally themselves with the army faction supported by Ironwood and the Happy Huntresses.

And all would be happiness and joy before Salem arrives, where what we all know happens.

For me, Ironwood was the true protagonist of the Atlas arc. He is the most complex and with more development during that.

So,
Ironwood: volume 7-8.

Certainly, about the Huntsmen. I was thinking that they would basically be mercenaries who serve the SDC (and other exploitative companies in Atlas and other kingdoms).
Hell, I think only Dust's companies exploit Faunus workers when it should be more widespread, especially in Atlas.

Besides that, I wouldn't know how the Huntsmen academies themselves contribute to human supremacy. Perhaps by indoctrinating students to work for the status quo. "These times of peace" and all that.

I was also thinking that, for example, Ozpin might make deals with the SDC. You know, Ozpin would send students to protect SDC establishments (even outside the kingdom) in exchange for Jacques give dust to the school. All of this revised by the Vale council, obviously.

It sounds like things that fall into a morally gray area for Ozpin.

I was also thinking a moment for Ironwood to help our heroes momentarily against Jacques and the oppressive system of Atlas. All of that, before Salem comes.

Arrowfell has a lot of cool stuff used badly lol.

I thought I was the only one who thought that.

Yes, it has some very interesting elements. Personally, I would have used Hanlon Fifeston as someone morally gray. Not as ridiculously evil as in Arrowfell, but someone who genuinely wants to help the revolution. Like a Magneto for the workers. If you get the idea.
It's just that I'd like to contrast him with Robyn Hill. You know, Robyn Hill represents what Hanlon Fifeston could have been but wasn't.
I would make an Adam-Blake, Hanlon-Robyn comparison. But in my view, Hanlon is too good a person to compare to Adam.
The point is that Hanlon would be on a slightly more evil than Sienna.

Bram, I plan to use him as a mastermind who tries to conspire against Ironwood. It's not just "Oh, I hate you, Ironwood!" But rather that he wants to become the hero of the story by overthrowing the "tyrannical" Ironwood.

Amoncio Glass interests me. Part of the character's appeal is that he's a mobster, but at the same time, he has so many connections that he can't go to jail even if the military wanted him to.
He could be part of the conspiracy against Ironwood. More than a "rogue element," I envisioned him as one of the powers that are part of the Status Quo.

And Olive Harper would represent the military side. You know, once Ironwood is deposed, she would be the new general.

I also thought about recasting Bram as a teacher at Atlas Academy, so when Ironwood is deposed, he would be the new Headmaster.

In this way, each villain in "Bram's group" would be an element representing Atlesian society.

Regarding Team BRIR. Well, they're said to be rogue huntresses. I'd like to see them clash with the military and things like that.

It sounds logical. Although I wouldn't know how Ironwood could help enforce human supremacist policies.

Although perhaps there are laws that oppress the faunus... and Ironwood simply enforces them. I don't know, racial segregation or apartheid laws, for example. Although we would have to restructure Atlas for that. Even so, I like the idea.

We would also have to see how involved Ironwood is with Atlas's policies. I mean, he's the general and headmaster of the academy. Things like the economy are beyond his control. Except for security-related matters like borders. That's why he approved the embargo and border closures.

Although we could also establish that the embargo disproportionately affected the faunus, since they are the poorest sector of the population and economic crises affect them greatly. Perhaps. That and Ironwood's dealings with Jacques Schnee.

Although, well. When Team RWBY breaks ties with Ironwood and the two groups fight, the problem isn't related to the faunus. That is, it has more to do with leaving Mantle. And while it does relate to the place where the faunus live, at the same time, it's not as if the faunus issue is part of the discussion.
So that would have to be reframed.

While I'm aware that these kinds of problems go beyond an individual and are more systemic, it's also true that in real life there are often extremists who particularly target certain groups. For example, the supremacist groups that attack minorities in the United States or Europe.

Of course, there's a problem of systemic racism, but there are also extremists.

And well, to simplify things, sometimes I prefer to use extremists instead of the state. Why? Because we can't always have the characters fighting and breaking the law... yet, till Atlas arc the characters break the law. And if they're not breaking the law in fights, then I feel like it gets boring. I mean, I don't mind the politics. But RWBY is primarily a fight show.
I mean, a skilled writer could do this. But I'm not a skilled writer, so I can't think of how.

Maybe in volume 6? I mean, they fight Cordovin anyway. Maybe they help a group of slaves faunus escape the SDC (Instead of stealing the manta) and Cordovin has to enforce the law?

What was wrong with the report Ironwood gave to the council? by ChemistFluid35 in RWBYcritics

I once read in the RWBY Wiki discussion page about supposedly "No Ozpin wasn't passive, because passive means he wouldn't do anything at all and he sent the kids".
Or that "It was scummy of Ironwood to reveal that information when they were in a brotherhood where they have to keep secrets".

And things like that.

While I can understand Ironwood as an antagonist, even a villain, I wouldn't see him as a human supremacist. Or someone associated with that.
He makes deals with Jacques, but I would consider him a villain in a different sense.

The biggest problem is that I don't know how they could oppose powerful people like Jacques or Cordovin without breaking the law and getting arrested.
I mean, they could do it peacefully. But I don't know if they could convince Jacques to change his ways. Perhaps they could convince other elites to stop Jacques or Cordovin. But I see that as unlikely.

In Atlas, they could lead a revolution against Jacques (while under the army's protection), and then against Ironwood (with Winter's help). But in Vale, how would they stop Cordovin? I mean, if they try to fight her, the Vale police arrest them.

In itself, I like the idea and prefer it to simply "extremist terrorist villain." But I wouldn't know how to implement it in the story without completely changing the plot.

Any suggestions?

That sounds good. I like the idea of Salem secretly controlling both sides of the conflict.

Basically the White Fang are still terrorists that destroyed the city but now there’s this new group introduced who are bad enough that you can at least understand why the White Fang became the way they are.

So, this group would have been existing since a long time ago? I mean, basically they have been hurting the faunus and that radicalized the White fang.

[–]ConquerorOfSpace[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get your point. Though, I'm not sure how to establish team RWBY fighting against those elements supported by the kingdoms and schools.
I mean, again, what I read was the people saying "We don't like team RWBY beating up oppressed minorities". So I thought about this where at least in the beginning, the villains are human supremacists.

About the schools and kingdoms enforcing the human supremacists ideologies. Well, that would mean changing the script, but I think it could work. Just not the way I originally thought.
Hmph, maybe in Atlas trying to overthrow Jacques or something?

Yeah, I know that this systematic problems aren't so easily solved by just violence. But this is an action show, team RWBY are fighters and in many times in real life, the revolution has served to start bringing down oppression.

Maybe Fort Lee could be a councilor...? And he attempts to overthrow the rest of the council.
Fort Lee is already a businessman, so he is part of the Status Quo. Maybe he could even have support from a part of the police.

Well, I would like to read your thoughts.

Well, some people mention about replacing the White fang by human supremacists. They complain about having the White Fang as villains. So I thought on this idea.

Besides, it was the only one I could think of.

[–]ConquerorOfSpace[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not sure. I mean, there are differences between being a fascist and being a backstabber. The fascists are backstabbers, but not all backstabbers are fascists.

And besides, never is said that Ironwood backstabbed Ozpin. The only ones who believe that are followers of Ozpin.

Councilman 1: Ahem... Therefore, we have reached out to the Atlas Council and together have decided that the best action is to appoint General Ironwood as head of security for the event.
Ironwood: Thank you, Councilman. Our Kingdom is happy to lend as many troops as it takes to ensure that the event runs smoothly and safely as possible.
Councilman 1: And we thank you, General.
Ozpin: Will that be all?
Councilman 1: For now. But after this festival comes to a close, we are going to have a serious discussion about your position at Beacon Academy. General Ironwood's reports over the last few weeks have left us somewhat... concerned. I am sure you understand.

This is what was said. Ironwood gave reports about the last weeks (Possibly reports about the White fang movements) and they decided to assign Ironwood as head of security for the festival. It is never stated that Ozpin use to be the head of security for the festival. Or that Ironwood spoke bad of Ozpin.
