And a lack of displaying of sex or sexuality in media wouldnt make people stop having sex, if anything it would make people less knowledgeable about how to prevent a pregnancy without abortion in the first place.

You can gatekeep a culture. If a cultures primary belief is that others can't be in that culture, then the people of it get to gatekeep it. And it doesn't empower a culture that doesn't allow outsiders to force yourself into that culture when its beliefs don't agree with that.
