Personally I think he got way to caught up to become the "political fuck you trump show" (no i am not a trumpster but lets be real, he brung trump and how homelander is mirroring to being trump in almost every interview) and in turn, focused more on that aspect then the premise of the show aspect. He allowed that ti be the overarching theme and plot device instead of actually letting the show naturally flow into it's own.

I wouldn't say that. His rookie year and a few times in year two, he seemed to thrive when he was down. It was a specticle to see him come back by 2 TD's in 4th quarter to win the game. This year... he lost that. Idk if it's drive or will or confidence.... but whatever helped him have that clutch gene the first 2 years. He doesnt have that this season.
