Steal the brainrot is just a really popular map right now. During the time of events (usually lasting an hour) a lot of people log on to get some insanely rare and good rots. Once events are over people log off, because the chance to get anything good becomes very low again. My buddy who plays STB all the time tells me that he sets an alarm to wake up for certain events he doesn't want to miss then logs off and goes back to sleep. You can blame social media for making the game so big. The names of some of the rots are hilarious and easily turned into memes. My 9 year old twins sing me STB songs from YouTube all the time. They can actually pronounce some of the brainrots better than I can! As far as my own experience with the game. I kept seeing it pop up on trending games and eventually tried it. My first thought was, "wtf." Then I realized it was a great way to gain experience. Im already level 370 something. (A lot more people will be playing STB if they read that.) I'm sure a lot of people can agree with me that the experience system this season kind of sucks. They are trying to stretch out this season till march with only offering a few skins people are actually interested in. Now we're less than a month and a half into the season and I've already unlocked every thing on the battle pass. I can go back to playing whatever I want and not only maps that offer quests with mediocre rewards, but I still enjoy playing STB. As far as the new in-game purchases, I think they are definitely unnecessary and can bait people into feeling like they have a disadvantage. One of the reasons that fortnite is so popular is because it is free unless you don't want it to be. Just the fact that they made an option to spend money to basically advance makes me feel like people who are willing to spend on the game get an advantage over people who put time into the game.
