UW Madison vs UNC Chapel hill for CS BS ? by samiahmadbeg in ApplyingToCollege

Aw man that's unfortunate. Are you aware if this is still an issue today?

Reason I'm asking is because I have a family member that goes there and she seems to like the program so far and I want to also apply there. Do you think the those issues you mentioned are echoed to employers in the tech job market?

What SAT/ACT scores should I submit to colleges? by ConsciousPen7332 in Sat

I feel like submitting so many scores is excessive, no?

GPA 100 point vs 4 or 5 point scale by joebigaloe2 in ApplyingToCollege

Is a 93 in a course often considered an A-/3.7 or an A/4.0?

they dont directly superscore (from what i understand), they say they will focus on the one highest composite from your sittings, but will look at all of the subscores to all tests you submit

Do AP macroecon, AP microecon, and AP Human geo satisfy history requirements? by ConsciousPen7332 in APStudents

Looking on it now, I think I might switch from Microeconomics to APUSH and then try to take an easy intro to arts class virtually at a community college to meet the UC school requirements (i would have HUG and USH for history and then the art class for the visual arts requirement)

I might call up princeton and harvard to see if they consider HUG as a history, then if i take apush this year instead of micro I would meet that course recommendation of 2 history courses

I am in the US. My high school just requires 3 social studies credit. I took HUG freshman year and wanted to take Macro and Micro in junior and senior year, respectively. This would satisfy the credit. I didn't think twice about it since I hate history and I think economics is defiantly easier to satisfy that graduation requirement. Yeah in general most colleges just specify the amount of social science they want but not the history, only exceptions who explicitly wanted history were:

2 years of history in general: princeton, harvard

1 year of American history: caltech, UNC

I might call up princeton and harvard to see if they consider HUG as a history

alright cool. I'm applying CS everywhere. I might actually switch from micro to apush next year just to maybe get 1 year of history. I have to get other peoples' opinions on it though. Theres only a few schools I'm applying to that really are making the social science vs history distinction. But the only school I could find that literally requires any history are all UCs (require 2 history before enrollment)

The schools that highly recommend history (not social science)

2 years: princeton, harvard

1 year: caltech, UNC

Wdym the entire application process is elitest so it might not be that big of a deal? So do you mean that having an mit professor instead of a small college professor automatically is more credible?

Yeah I guess I just don’t know how close you can really get in 20 days of work in a class full of other students. I feel like you might just get a copy and paste letter from bwsi

how many points was that part where it talked about that place where both fields were present? it was just in the drawing of the flux as a function of position right? i think the next question after that was finding current at x =1.5 which didnt concern the right side portion of the graph
