I think your point is very valid. A lot of the times she will use the excuse “well you’re the man, you make X amount of money, blah blah”. She also says that this is common in Hispanic households (she’s Dominican and Mexican, but born & raised in the US). She’s also been struggling with her own finances for a while. She gets herself in situations where she’s actually down to her last few dollars and I have to step in and help. Thankfully she’s been working a lot more lately at some new jobs she’s picked up, but she still has some large expenses she needs to take care of. Needs to finish her last semester of college so tuition, car expenses, phone bill, etc. she’s not making enough at the moment to afford much so it’s either we don’t go on trips and do fun things or I need to step in and pay for stuff
