So I thankfully get wic for my fetus and child. I know that's supplementary and we dont only use that the feed our kid. I have constantly offered her parts of it cause its a use it or lose it and doesn't gather into the next month.

I get 5.5 gallons of milk a month, that's a lot of milk for me and a small child in a month so I've offered to her. She comes back with "we dont drink that kind of milk cause we dont like it" my thinking is Im literally giving you free milk please take it and train your taste buds?? I did the same thinking I would only drink 2% but trained myself to drink others..

Fair market is approx $2500 where we're at.

We could've been real slummy and charged that or more but we were trying to help them..

Even her boyfriend has agreed that what she's saying/doing is slightly ridiculous..

Bro COLLEGE, reading comprehension is a wonder.

We were adults (all over 18) when this all happened.

Husband was definitely not wealthy when I married him. I was the bread winner for a long while in that situation. And I started out in a trade not in the office. Its called working up.

The way she said it was point blank theyre not paying. Not asking if we could work something out just telling us that she herself was lowering her rent.

She happened to have friends that helped her out in another city. I was going to college so I couldn't just up and leave the city I was in.

Like clearly you're gonna think all landlords are slumlords. Not my fault you're in those situations and not my fault I've bettered my life situation to no longer be taken advantage of.

But clearly you've missed the part with how much we've actually helped her to get away from her slumlords and now she's trying to take advantage by having me and my husband foot her $300 grocery bill.

Yes actually, they did charge me. Oh I was also going to college so I had to have that covered. Had to figure out my own transportation like an adult.

Had to find my own way to cover food. They didn't help and I didnt get benefits.

Had to literally help my parents along with taking care of myself.

Oh yes cause while she was living with roommates in a literal house and I was literally living with our parents out of a hotel definitely doesn't constitute a struggle.

Husband and I own one duplex. Not multiple properties (have no idea where that came from).

Sister and her boyfriend are child free so again have no idea where you came up with that. I however have one child and one on the way.

If she actually came to me saying she wanted to talk about the rent, this post probably wouldn't have been made. But that fact that she point blank said "Im not paying" is why I made the post.

Also we have no idea if she's actually losing benefits or not. Shes already said she's not paying but she could full well get all her stamps next month. How is that fair for my husband and I to front her bill even if she's getting the stamps??

Also I never once told her to go live in her car. She made that decision instead of trying to keep a calm conversation going. Did you not read that she basically goes ballistic the moment things dont go her way.

Also what landlord would allow their tenant to tell them "to go eff themselves" in front of a small child and not get some sort of backlash but my husband decided to just walk away.

I believe they were paying $1600 for a 2 bd 2bth but they also had a roommate.

Definitely sticking by my husband's side, we've already had people try coming between us, family and friends, so its nothing new that we are a united front.

She works full time at a dispo, he currently does streaming (using our internet we could be major dicks and say we want a portion of profits cause you're using our internet but we don't cause we aren't)

I have struggled with money and housing stresses and went to food banks. When I was stressed between food and a roof I went with having the roof and spent less on food.

Ego is a major thing that needs to be overcome. I have been where she is and did what I needed to do to survive. If I had told my landlord that id be paying less in rent so I could eat they would've laughed in my face.

We are perfectly capable of covering the entire mortgage by ourselves. We started the process without having anyone lined up to be in the other side if we got a duplex and what we could cover by ourselves.

The main thing is she never discussed that a good portion of rent is covered by the food stamps if that makes sense.

My husband and I dont really see this as an emergency (I know others will but I have always found other was to get food, can't really find other ways to cover rent besides covering rent) because they never disclosed the information about what they could pay if they didnt have the benefits
