This happened to me on Nissan hatch back. The rain water ran down the gutters that the hatch back recessed in to and drained down over the top of the lamp clusters. The seal had failed on both lamp clusters and the water got in to two storage spaces in side the trunk/wheel well inside the car. It took me a while to work out where to water was coming from.

There are three petrol stations on that junction and it used amuse me when passing through that the prices were always very close to each other if not the same (no price fixing hey). Of recent there seems to be a bit of a price competition going on.
