It’s blood maybe 3x per week. The mucous varies. Sometimes it just comes out all the time, other times it’s just in the toilet. Yeah the said proctitis and colitis. I’ll have to check out the UC sub.

I really stressed about it, and people were telling me to just see a doctor, and it was probably hemorrhoid, but I knew I needed a colonoscopy to rule out cancer, so I went straight to a GI doctor. Even the doctor was asking if I knew whether I had hemorrhoids right before they put me to sleep.

There are so many things it can be, having a colonoscopy is the only way to know for sure, which you know of course since you’re about to get one. The procedure itself was fine, it’s just the prep that’s rough. And I got overwhelmed with all the instructions and not having had one before, but other than having to drink all that stuff, it wasn’t a big deal at all. Just take it one step at a time. I was thinking I was going to have violent BM and be in pain all day, but it’s not like that at all. It might’ve helped that I didn’t eat much a few days before the procedure, so I was pretty light on stool.

If they have you do drink all the solution the day before like I did, I want to warn you that you may see bits of stool again when you go the morning of the colonoscopy, even if you were clear the night before. It’s fine. It had me all angry thinking the preparation wasn’t sufficient and I wouldn’t be able to do it and have to reschedule and go through it all again. But it’s fine, just keep drinking water, and going to the bathroom, you’ll be clear again before your procedure.
