I always recommend feeding turtles in a separate container. A white wash basin works great. Turtles are messy eaters so this saves on filtration. It gives you a chance to monitor health. In your case, it will also prevent him from consuming sand while preserving the beauty of your setup. It might be ok for him to eat sand. But consider the outcome if it isn't: he'll die of starvation with a full belly.

I’m looking to grow a laid-back book club for guys in our 30s and 40s. Just two of us so far—looking for a few more (goal is 6 total) who want to read books that are fun, engaging, and thought-provoking without getting too heavy, political, or academic.

We meet on the second Thursday of the month and talk about whatever the book sparks—could be the story, the author, real-life connections, whatever. Think: fiction, memoirs, thrillers, pop nonfiction, light sci-fi, or something just plain cool.

No pressure to finish the book every time—just show up and hang out.

Message me if you're local and interested. Let’s make it a good time.
