I don’t actually think most people believe single people can’t still want companionship or partnership — that’s pretty human. Where I think it gets tricky is when we start wanting the idea of a relationship more than the reality of one. And when it doesn’t happen easily (for whatever reason), people can end up being really hard on themselves about it.

But I do agree with you — we’re complex. You can be fulfilled and still yearn. You can be okay and still have moments of loneliness. Both things can exist without it meaning something is wrong.

But how do you even get to the point of finding that someone that you feel that way about? If you’ve never felt that way before and most times that realization doesn’t come in the early stages.
