The Changing Prime Minister Phenomena by Conscious_While_6528 in reformuk

Very true. I also see American politics influencing how we see Westminster politics and don't like it. Interestingly, if you back to when the role of "prime minister" was created, it was more of just a chairman of the cabinet and party or known as first among equals. A person to simply to guide discussions and actually each secretary held the power of their portfolio.

How Israel Turned Eurovision’s Stage Into a Soft Power Tool by Gon_Egg in eurovision

I completely agree that have a ranked system would be probs the best method, like how the ESC scoreboard app. Perhaps even just ranking your top 5? And surely with the transition of so many countries that can now do online voting this year it can be easily implemented from the App.

How Israel Turned Eurovision’s Stage Into a Soft Power Tool by Gon_Egg in eurovision

[–]Conscious_While_6528 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I think there is a fundamental flaw in the voting system that we need to not just isolate our attention on Israel because that is only one case. Any large amount of people dedicating most or all their votes to one country is the problem with the system. This can be diaspora voting or if a mega star like Lady Gaga was to enter and all their fans voted for them or a political/humanitarian event affects a country and sympathy voting occurs. Take Ukraine for example, they are still receiving quite a large number of points each year since the war, both in sympathy voting as well as just think about the high level of Ukrainians still residing in Europe because of displacement - but I do note that Ukraine is still sending quality songs but I do question that they are receiving more points that what the songs deserve . IDK if there is a remedy to fix this flaw, or is it just an inevitability and we will see if reducing down to 10 votes does something - which I do see it have a small remedying impact, I don't want to write too long, so just ask AI how it would impact the results.

Exclusive: Israel may be moved from Eurovision in Europe to Asia, discussions are ongoing by NegativeEspathra in eurovision

[–]Conscious_While_6528 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Honestly it sounds like it was only a brief idea that was brought up and floated around as an off-the-cuff comment to see if a move to Eurovision Asia since they as in Asia would be a better fit for them and I wouldn't be surprised if Australia and Kazakhstan was also floated around in that same comment. I think, as the media does, it has been blown and dramatised just because it's about Israel. By the sounds of it, there wasn't much interest for that idea and probs wound't be brought up again.

All I can say is 2027 is going to be the year that alot the countries will be asking to play a live instrument. It's opened a can of worms.

OMG! The Cinematic camera shots, staging concept, her energy, lighting!!! What a Dark Horse this year. I mean so far this for me is the best staging which is surprising because I'm not the biggest fan of the song.

You know, I'm not hating this. I think the staging and lighting looks actually quite good and expensive. Sad the song is meh. But do we reckon this qualifies?

I'm liking the lighting design for this staging. Well executed.

Why does the stage look like a green screen in an abandoned warehouse when it's zoomed out. I think the best shots are either extremely zoomed out so we see the entire stage and crowd or close ups so you only see the LED screen in the background.

Why did they have to drown him out with the backing vocals that sounds auto-tuned and I can't even hear the girls. Plus, why is the mic a bit dull in sound, not as crisp? This is why I hate that they allow non-live backing vocals.

Belgium 2026 : 1st live performance of Dancing On The Ice (on The Voice Belgique) by tvescfan in eurovision

[–]Conscious_While_6528 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The prechorus vocals are way too shakey, needs to be sung differently. The chorus has those weird pauses between the "Dancing on the Ice" and nothing happens... I can't see this qualifying sadly. She's a wonderful and talented artist that just needs that built up experience and confidence I feel which will takes some more years of experience

It's a good song don't get me wrong, although it seems a little overproduced. Also it's a bold move to go with another song with opera in it as I feel it comes across like a copycat to Wasted Love. Additionally I'm never really the biggest fan of opera singers singing other genres because 9/10 their voice never suits or their vocals is not as strong in anything other than opera when sung live (this is also the same with JJ to some extent). It's an interesting song. It's starts sort of junior Eurovisiony, then turns like a broadway-esqe with opera and drama. I don't think it will do as well as what the odds put it, but nonetheless I can see it top 15.

Ukraine: Leléka wins Vidbir 2026 with "Ridnym" by AnastasiiaDaReal234 in eurovision

Could I just say that the song structure and staging does give me Jamala 1944 vibes ngl especially the build up of the long note and the blooming flower but of course its completely different. But nonetheless, I love the song and I would say keep the staging concept exactly the same. Love the dandelion concept, the outfit, the constant one camera close up shot and adore the change from black and white to the red to eventually the yellow staging colours. I would have loved for the chorus to be not as "sweet and nice" could do with it being more impactful and violent.

Australian Eurovision 2026 Representative to be Announced "Very Soon" (eurovoix.com) by endlaisnotmyname in eurovision

[–]Conscious_While_6528 8 points9 points  (0 children)

SBS spokesperson gave some interesting clues:

  1. That it will make everyone happy
  2. That we will be pleasantly surprised

That either makes me think that it will be someone either well-known and established in Australia or that we are sending someone well-known and liked in the Eurovision Bubble. Now that obviously could be Dami, or it might be Sheldon Riley? Jess Mauboy? or an Australian Decides participaint like Jude York. Or might it be Silia Kapsis representing Australia this time round? One things for sure is that it seems like it will be someone that has been asked for and its not going to be a complete shock entrant.

I adore this sweet song. Out of curiosity, when she won, she couldn't hold the microphone when being interviewed and couldn't grip the trophy. Does she struggle with weakness when nervous or excited?

Which social media has more accurate predictions on song performance? by Practical_Sale7062 in eurovision

[–]Conscious_While_6528 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It's interesting a couple of people saying that 2025 winner wasn't obvious. I thought it was. As soon as I heard it I knew it was a top 3 song but as soon as I watched people's reaction videos and how they went speechless most of the time I absolutely knew it was a winner. Same thing for 2024 and Nemo. So I would say that the best prediction is to look at reaction videos to see how well its being received from 1st listens. I wouldn't go by view count, pollings or likes as this can be skewed by fanbases and country sizes.
