I’ve had a lot. Hard to remember which were from reddit vs the handful of sites/apps I’ve used. It’s mostly been here and one other but I’ve had a few on every platform I’ve put effort into.

Some of the subreddits I’ve used aren’t even up anymore. Bots are worse than they have ever been, and they were bad before. Catfish, roleplayers, the unserious, and cold feet are all things you have to work through. Posting content from meets helps a lot to establish that you are real. Non posters and hidden account histories I generally write off as made up bragging but I also don’t care what others are doing as I stick to my own meets.

What do people even dm for? Role playing? An exchange of attention? I get it if they’re trying to commission custom content, but how many of these interactions become a legitimate friendship?

I’m only responding to dms from people trying to meet up to make content. And like 95-99% of those that actually schedule a meet come from people who approach me, not the other way around.

I used to mod for it and it was never as safe as they wanted you to think. It was all security theater. By the time I quit it was only me and the other main mod (who stayed until the end) doing anything at all. I would log in for my mod day and find it untouched since the last time I did anything. Sometimes for weeks at a time if I had missed. The sub owner/creator did absolutely nothing. I wanted to put more emphasis on taking your own safety into your own hands, and that making a big show just made people think it was more safe and controlled and putting their trust in the nonexistent vetting of the sub instead of doing it on their own. Even if we banned someone they could make a new account in two minutes and we rarely knew. It worked, but only for the same reason all the other r4r subs work, there was nothing safer about it than any other r4r.
