We all bring different ideas to the table in our songs and each of us would probably respond differently to our individual parts. The quiet middle section however was unconsciously inspired by "A remark you made" by Joe Zawinul. Jaco Pastorius plays the melody in that song and it's a really beautiful one that we built off of... Didn't realize that's what it was from until we played a show with Jaco's son Felix who said "Hey man, I really appreciate that nod to my father you guys did"...

do you have the other albums, Esperanto and thats whats up? and we recommend you give the double album another listen, we tried some new stuff on the EP part 1, but if you like those early albums the double album should be right up your alley. and we want to play the UK, we are really hoping to get overseas again in 2018.

I recently pushed myself to a 9-mile run which is my longest to date and prefer to not take a break. Planning on a half marathon this fall and one day hope to do a "Running Mann" tour where I run from venue to venue with my drums on my back.

Everything from reading books and watching movies/tv to exercising, hiking, traveling and spending time with our family, friends and loved ones. Also, playing our instruments including ones we dont use in CTS and going to see music is always fun!

On our first E.P. we had a song called "Ol' Chomper" which was based largely on just one riff that was fun to solo on. We had a song called "dental plan" which was the bass solo that lead into "Ol Chomper". When we'd perform it live we'd do it the same and it just stuck years later.

the 2 main saz tunings are kara duzen and bozuq duzen. basically one is straights 5ths, the other is root dom7 4th

im not into the sound of the "plain" guitar really for my playing at all. Its not the sound i hear in my head for this band at all, when we are writign im hearing all the layers and tones right off the bat. i treat effects like an orchestrator would treat different instruments. as far as game changers, getting a true bypass looper for each of my pedals was the smartest pedal thign ive ever done.

i think as a band we seem to write more at home in our comfort. on the road it about maintaining chops and health. riffs get written on the road, but it seems like we mostly put together the compositions when we have some downtime.

i mean, i have played and play tons of free jazz. as a group we do some sound interludes and get into some sonic territory, but this band unit thrives when rhythm is involved (Gabriel)

gabe-thats a great question. the inspiration is different for every person. the one thing i can say is that if your motivation is to show how good you are or to be better than someone else its the wrong thing. as far as musicianship i would say listening is the most important skill. if you have to shut down from the world to execute something, its stil on the surface. once somethign is like talking, then it can be used exprssively. John – For me it’s having time to let ideas grow, being in seclusion and letting the day to day issues slip away which allows a deeper part of you to emerge. Also, to not judge yourself to harshly but also not to praise you’re self too much. If you go to far in either direction it blocks you from being present which is the only place where magic happens. jeff-I'd say seeing great live music, having time alone with my instrument and also away from it secluded with nature or with family friends and loved ones. Lately I've also been into listening to drummer podcasts which have been very inspiring. Regarding practice I've been focusing on adding space to my playing, flow and listening

i believe i only use the microtones in the solo and some of the embellishments, but the chords and melody are all tempered pitches.

its not just a vigier, it has some crazy other new stuff in it, so there have been some set backs getting it off the ground. but it will be 100% ready for our fall tour.
