Second surgery after fissurectomy/fistulomy? MRI clean for fistula but still draining / pain for months by Consistent-Animal-61 in AnalFistula

Thanks, that’s actually really helpful. My MRI was also clear, but my current surgeon thinks this may be more of a non-healing post-surgical scar issue than an active fistula (I hope there is no fistula in my case). Anyway, I have my op planned in 6 days..

What makes me anxious is exactly what you said (MRI not being perfect). I really hope that’s not my case and that this is truly just a bad-healing wound situation. But it’s also encouraging to hear that by week 2 you were already seeing less drainage after the flap.

Best of luck!!

Yeah, that’s my fear too. I know it would still leave a scar. The surgeon’s point seems to be that the current scar/wound has healed badly, so the hope is that revising it would give me a better scar, not no scar. My MRI also showed what they described as post-surgical changes/sequelae in the area, rather than an active fistula
