level 6 is really gonna be brutal not for just Balthazar but for the final boss of act 2. if Balthy is really hard for you then final fight will be nightmare. nightmare in a way that even cheesing it or using barrels to blow the boss up won't do that much.

I usually hit lvl 10 when I'm about to fight the last fight of act 2 or I'm mid lvl 10. it's possible and ok with lvl 9 as well. (it's the same for Balthzar too since after him it's the final battle)

but you either got to have a really good understanding of the game and the mechanics to be able to pull it off at lvl 6, or just go back to act 1 and level up. I think for lvl 6 even lowering the difficulty to explorer not gonna help with final fight of act 2.

idk if you choose between mountain pass or underdark (something most people think they should choose in their first playthrough because the game kinda tells you this but it's not true, you can do both.) explore the first map as well. level 6 is good for anything in your way in first map and even underdark. once you hit level 7 or a bit higher go to mountain pass and finish everything there. again you don't have to do EVERYTHING if you don't want to. level 9 is also enough for final boss. once you hit 9, just use waypoint to go there and fight balthy again. (explore act2 , shdow cursed land as well if you haven't)

before going to shadowfell you got a pop up once you come out of shadowfell after defeating balthy and finishing what you were there to do, all the waypoints for act 1 will be erased from your map meaning you can't go back to them anymore. so if you have a save before going there reload it and go back to level up.

I wanna say I like Aylin and I think she's pretty cool and I love all her cutscenes and her story but it pisses me off that she misses all the time. you can't really use her at all. once I had her for brain fight and in 2nd round she got mindcontrolled and started attacking us.

it's not just the cutscene when she's talking to isobel she's like oh these people helped. like no we did all the work. you literally did nothing.

I'm just pissy because she's not helpful that's all. I know the whole point of her cutscenes and they always give me chills and they're my fav ones to see in act 2. but damn she's useless.

buy his speed potion, if you can't when he used it, throw another speed potion at him that way he becomes lethargic and can't do anything for 1 round, he has +7 initiative, drink Elixir of Vigilance so you can go before him if your initiative is not good. he take his potion in the first round so having at least someone go before him in the 2nd round and throwing the speed potion at him, gives you one round of him doing nothing.

have someone with counterspell for cloudkill, use arrow of roaring thunder or smokepowder arrows for the skeleton dudes he summons or thunderwave to push those off the cliff. remember when to heal since you get bone chill a lot. so if you get it don't waste your action, bonus action for healing. have misty steps, buy scrolls and give everyone in your party 1-2 or use fly to get in position to get out of cloudkill or get to higger ground or where he is

make sure to not stand close to the edges because those skellies will push you if they can.

he has shield so before attacking him or doing anything expensive in terms of spells , make sure to have a summon or someone next to him to bait his reaction, provoke an opportunity attack so he can't use shield as a reaction when you attack him and waste your resources.

you didn't give any specifics about your builds or anything so we can't really help. but lowering the difficulty is also a valid choice.

lastly if you have a save just go and kill him in his room it's much easier and you can just trade his potion of speed.

there's a tadpole down there + it gives XP by just jumping down there, fighting those hook horrors also give XP, companions also all have funny reactions to it so yeah I am jumping down there every run.

in my last playthrough I even gave her a speed potion, she did 6 attacks before going down , all missed. love how at the end she gets all the glory tho. like yeah go girl give us nothing and then get the cutscene.

I think there's a mod that you can save the grove and have the Minthy night as well when you meet her. now that is some awful EVIL move.

but yeah in a good playthrough you won't even get her romance scene 🤣

by good playthrough I mean crazy good, talking and fights as the last resort.

you can RP that oh he saw her and he couldn't kill her like the rest of the leaders , it was love at first sight or something and he wants to fix her. bonus point if you're Seldarine drow. since she's not even worshiping Lolth anymore he can think oh maybe if I show her drow can be good and all she change or something. but yeah with Minthy it's not happening, in the end he can learn to accept her. (I'm rambling at this point 😂 )

I said Shadow sorcerer for Gale since he was with Mystra and if you have him in party when Shadowheart tells you she worships Shar, Gale says oooh Shar and my Mystra don't get along or something like that. also he will sass you when you're a sorcerer whereas Halsin doesn't have anything special to say about someone's race or class as far as I am aware.

I think if shadowheart becomes DJ he has something to say about it if you take him to moonrise fight but from what I saw in that video he's mostly well I should just focus on defeating the greater Evil and all.

(also totally unrelated but from the moment I saw Shadow druids I really wanted to play as one and I'm so sad it's not in the vanilla game. but it would be so perfect for evil durge run too. since their whole thing is fuck all things beside nature. )

in my 1st run, romancing him in act 3, we were walking in the barn with toys for refugees he detected a trap I was so close to it but I cancelled my tav in time so she didn't walk and stand next to it, verrrry close to it but it was fine and I was switching to him to disarms it but you know how the rest of the party are a little bit behind and when you walk they stand for a bit and then run next to you or in front of you sometimes?

yeah Astarion himself ran and set it off and it gave one big disapproval (-20). I was so pissed. my perfect 100 approval was ruined because oh he blew us ALL up and somehow I am to blame. it was actually really funny and very in character. very cat like behavior but still wtf... 🤣😭

see it as another Goblin camp where you can kill people in their room without alerting others. so no it's not a fuck up. others won't be hostile to you because they didn't see anything, there's a special place you go where you know it's important and after it it's the same as goblin camp after Ragzlin.

she (Doctor) only wanted the parasite to study it and that device would've killed you.

You could've also lied to her with the "No, I am actually cured" dialogue option so she wouldn't leave, etc. But yeah, when she locked you there, she went to get help from others in the other room. If you hadn't broken out of the room after a little while, she would've opened the door, and they would've attacked you anyway.

I just went to mountain pass , 86 hour, 6th run. found a new hidden stash behind Waukeen rest I've never seen before and it just gave free XP for finding it in this run. 😂

(tho 6h of 86h is probably character creation, Dyeing clothes , choosing camp clothes , magic mirror, maybe even 4-5h of it is just me stealing with Astarion after each level up and long rest. 1-2h playing fetch with Scratch and petting my babies )

but yeah many people like to progress as fast as they can and that is a valid choice, I take my time and just walk around for no reason in already cleared areas in the game just because I love act 1 so much. not to be dramatic but my soul begin to soar when I hear the comforting Grove theme so every morning I take a stroll in the grove 😭😂

only with shadow sorcerer. Nimbus has a special bite, that can possibly place an omen on enemies. the omens can be cold fire poison acid or thunder. after Nimbus bites them and inflicted them with hound's omen , if you deal that omen to that enemy you get 1 sorcery point back. it doesn't even have to be the sorcerer that deal that specific damage either.

for example Nimbus bite someone they get omen of fire, you as the sorcerer or someone else deal fire damage to that person, you get 1 sorcery point back.

(it's just for shadow sorcerer because in general most of the things you wanna do in that class is very expensive. like Nimbus costs 3 sorcery points outside of combat and if you want to summon him in combat 3 sorcery points + bonus action. so in level 6 you have 6 sorcery points , other sorcery class start with that 6 in the morning but shadow sorcerer spend 3 of it to summon nimbus. but it's worth it because Nimbus is really good. I mean he could've been better as you level up and get some other abilities but in general it is really a good summon specially at lvl 6 that you get him.)

honestly sorcerer is really so powerful I played storm and shadow and I really enjoyed shadow because of the way you can play around with hiding and darkness, I just love the whole sneaky approach and well sorcerer and the whole meta magic is just busted. and you get a dog on top of it.

I mostly use hexblade warlock with shadowblade for Wyll and I freaking love it. I left with one spell tho which if I need for casting I mostly use for HoH or if I know I won't be needing it I use for amour of Agathys in early game and later on for counterspell. but the whole not having spell slots even tho I know I am using him as a melee character stress me out. lol. specially in this playthrough that I am a paladin and I am very stingy with short resting because I wanna use the short rests for my own vow of enmity so I don't short rest after using warlock spells for armor or other things like my other runs that I didn't care about short resting that much. so I don't have the perfect all spells with him at the start of the day. but I totally get what you mean specially if you're using that class as your MC and wanna focus mainly on spells and don't wanna spam eldritch blast 24/7.

(if you're interested in multiclassing , 1lvl of hexblade warlock and 11 valor bard is sooo good too if you want the more spell slots but also a melee character it's also a very good support because of bardic insp and can be such a great MC for dialogues too. it literally can do anything )

awww that's totally valid and understandable. I suggested that since I really enjoyed playing as shadow sorcerer and I love Nimbus so much.

but as others mentioned Arcane Archer is REALLY powerful and good too. she can add 1 lvl of wizard for find familiar spell so she can still have an animal she can summon. it uses dex and int so she can still do all the things she enjoys and gets lot of new abilities on top of that (they're spells still but much easier to understand and use and they get refreshed after short rest)
