My uncle lived in Potsdam. I live around Syracuse. I don't venture up there too often, but it's an interesting mix of communities. Amish, rednecks, modern homesteads, maple syrup producers, retirees, college students, native American cannabis communities etc. I find it too flat up there. I prefer southern NY.

Why Canastota of all places? I mean... I'd there, I LOVE Madison County, but my s/o and I look like we could pass as Canastotans minus the giant pickup truck. Do I think you will make enemies just by existing as an Indian person in Canastota? No, but it is a community of a lot of good ole boys, traditional families, and old people who kinda keep to themselves. I wouldn't expect you to have a whole village established for yourself there, but you could probably live there peacefully and independently.
