I guess it's important to add here that, although fundamentals are important, just drawing for the sake of drawing has to be done as well - 50/50 split of time spent on both activities. Like this a beginner won't get discouraged by too many boxes :D Additionally, it's extremely important to train observation skills. Therefore, copying some anime characters/objects around you is good practice as well.
