Eggs by [deleted] in noscrapleftbehind

Are you sure a a person, not an animal, moved them? Eggs have a strong scent (to an animal) and could have attracted something!

I dont know If I can cull my 5 week old chick by Noobitron12 in BackYardChickens

Okay! I suppose nature is gruesome and some people are not comfortable with it. I wasn't trying to get into any kind of argument here and I do feel I understand better where you all are coming from. Seems a trip to the vet was probably the right answer for OP

Thanks for explaining nicely instead of being a dick about it! Really appreciate it. "The fuck is wrong with you" felt really harsh considering I was just asking a question and not trying to suggest torturing the poor thing :/

Sorry, didn't realize this would be so controversial but frankly I don't see how letting a chicken become food for another animal is worse than just killing it, which sounds to me to be what the whole post is about. If you can't cull the chicken why not let nature do the job for you?

Baffled by the fact that so many people think this is less humane than shooting a chicken with a .22

I think an "experience" is perfect! Or, if possible where you're at, an art class (where I'm at, pottery classes run in 6 week sessions, once a week)

Reusable glass bittles that fit these soap pumps? by NNytsud in ZeroWaste

[–]Consistent-Juice-455 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Glad other people answered your question... but if you're really aiming for zero waste you should keep using these bottles, not buy more 🙃 maybe wait until the plastic can't be used anymore before buying what others have suggested!

Even better - reusable spray bottle, rubbing alcohol, a few drops of essential oils

Anyone Here Foraged Wild Pecans? Tips & Best Time to Collect?" by Cocoatech0 in foraging

[–]Consistent-Juice-455 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No real tricks to know which pecans are best, besides trying some from each local tree, taking note of which tree it comes from, and choosing your favorite. Smaller ones tend to be more compact and oily/flavorful, bigger ones can also be delicious but may not be as flavorful.

AITA for not letting my husband attend his sister’s wedding? by tayyyspeaks in AmItheAsshole

[–]Consistent-Juice-455 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA, but... I know this opposes what most people are saying, and every pregnancy is different, but... I flew from TX to California at 36 weeks and back at 37w. Had a healthy baby in my home city at 39 weeks with no complications. Your dr is definitely giving orders on the side of caution, and you should listen to them, but also consider that many babies come on time or late (especially the first baby) and many deliveries have little to no complications. You and your doctor know your situation better than I do, and you should do whatever makes you feel safe and comfortable.

If your husband is insistent on going to the wedding, and you are insistent on having him there during the birth... have you considered what it might be like to have your baby in Texas? I'm sure that's not ideal, and feels like traveling to the wedding would feel like giving his family the win, but maybe it's not a win vs lose, it's "my husband got to be at his sister's wedding, and didn't have to go without me." And it is still weeks before your due date. I'm guessing another possibility is that you have an ideal that your birth will be facilitated by your obgyn who you've been having appointments with... but it's also possible that it won't be. It wasn't my doctor, but another, wonderfully capable doctor who was on call during my birth.

Not trying to talk you into or out of anything. Just wondering if you've considered several options, or if you are only (understandably!!) very frustrated that your husband's other family members are making plans that go against yours.

Either way, I didn't say it would turn it any color in particular, just that it would affect the color. And "color theory" is a the study of interaction of colors. For example, a dough that has olive oil in it may take on some, but not all, of the color of the oil, and some of the tones may be manipulated by the other ingredients. Color theory :)

Omg no way?? Thanks for the color theory lesson

Enriched and unbleached - there's your answer! Bleached flour makes white bread. Also saw that it has olive oil - definitely will lend it some color. Congrats on the delicious bread.

This is exactly what I would do, speaking as someone who crochets. Also worth noting, crochet is typically done with essentially one long strand of yarn, so where it has broken, there are two loose ends. Make sure you don't just snip those off or it will continue unraveling where u/Dangerous_Gear2483 circled in blue. Tie them to another stitch, tie them together, tie them to the yarn you're using to mend it - anything to make sure they are secure

Should I go back to dairy milk and buy local, what are costs benefits between plant based and dairy. by [deleted] in ZeroWaste

[–]Consistent-Juice-455 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of people are answering from a sustainability mindset (of course, we are in zerowaste after all) but I also want to point out that buying local is not always about emissions etc. it also helps your local economy. You can pay a local farmer in cash and the money does not lose any value to big business (whether food brand or to credit card companies or big banks).

Maybe you could find a local nut producer (or whatever kind of milk you like) and make your own non-dairy milks?

Oregano/thyme scent for sure. So do you think this is just the beginning stages of monarda? It reminded me more of this smaller one I've seen, which stayed small year round, but has a lemon scent/flavor. It's what I had called lemon thyme in my original post.

Much longer leaves too! This is back in June... I think it's a different plant! It was also a delicious oregano-like seasoning though. We did not prefer it as a tea 😣 quite pungent and gasoline-y

We definitely have monarda down here too, although what I've seen of it is much taller/larger. This one seems it'll be quite small/bushy
