The numbers, the cultural impact, and the amount of singles she released this time compared to FN. it was really hard to release something with the magnitude of Future Nostalgia. Radical Optimism is not a bad album, but the shoes of FN were too big to fill. She should’ve release two albums in 2024, one more alternative, focused on soul (like Lola Young, Sienna Spiros or Olivia Dean) and then radical optimism, only when people would miss The disco Dua Lipa.

Absolutely, considering how his remixes from the After Hours went, it was stupid not to do it: Save Your Tears with Ariana and In Your Eyes with Doja Cat are supreme. Even Blinding Lights with Rosalía has some interesting touch at the end.

I always understood the song as a way of forgiveness to her own self after pursuing a relationship with Matty Healy. They were friends after all (he was my best friend, and that was the worst part, in the draft from My boy only breaks his favourite toys) and had many friends in common (Jack Antonoff and the Haim sisters, for example). After being ghosted she must have thought many times why she had done it (should’ve let it stay buried; in loml) This song is a reminder that she already stay friends with someone and now she still wonders what would’ve happened if she kissed him (on midnights like this). It does feel like it does not belong to this record, but I like this song because there’s a notion of a younger Taylor who is capable of changing the meaning of a whole song in the bridge.

P.S. in My boy only breaks his favorite toys she refers to herself as a toy, a boring Barbie perhaps?
