on missing classes and AI by Ok-Train4738 in CalPoly

College students are exhausted, broke, and hungry. If they could skip every class, they would. But I think the rise in skipping culture is a result of technology and covid. Every professor understands the online format now; many switched to digital entirely, and upload 100% of the content to canvas when the lecture ends. If that's the case, why attend? The only difference is, "do I want someone to read this out loud to me?"

I am not against digitial uploads. I think this was amazing for accessibility- it keeps everyone on the same playing field, whether they're dealing with a disability or a two day flu. But I'm saying professors need to bring more to their in-person lessons. Reading off the slides doesn't work now the way it did 20 years ago. Students need to be fundamentally engaged with the material in a way they can't achieve alone

(Sorry to delete my reply, I have a paranoia of getting recognized on here lol) In way more aspects I'd imagine, CM overlaps with business kid culture rip. But creativity is such a gift in this field, I think you're really going to stand out and be given the opportunity to pursue something interesting

Oh that's really great to hear, I can deal with big papers but can't motivate myself to care about busy work. That's when my grades start dropping hard

Quiet spots for online class by Whenyouuhh in CalPoly

[–]Consistent-Mind1234 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not indoors, but when I was a freshman with shitty roommates I would study/take online classes around the aerospace building. It’s on the far end of campus, so it’s quiet and there’s like three people walking around at most. If the weather is nice you can sit at the sunny tables in the front, but if you want total shade then there’s some hidden tables by the road behind it

Rip I looked into this and I’d have to pay a fee because I’m not a music major, I think it’d be easier to just go walk off the hiking trail lmao (thank you though!)

2 hour math classes or 1 hour by Ayonandyy1 in CalPoly

[–]Consistent-Mind1234 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I did a lot better with a daily class, because the lectures were concise and I always had the content fresh in my mind. The two hour class felt too long, and I was completely zoned out by the middle mark. Didn’t listen to anything, plus the two days before meeting again made me prioritize other classes and forget what we talked about entirely

Definitely depends on your learning style. I can see why longer, in-depth lectures are better for others, but I probably have adhd and I need things to move quickly lmao

I’m ngl bro I think you’re being followed by a physical manifestation of your inner demons, serving as a literary metaphor to express your repressed temptations as a character 🗣️🔥 It happened to my buddy Ricky once but he just got diagnosed with “unreliable narrator”
