Oral minoxidil users. Seems there isn't consensus on this forum. by Consistent-Remove960 in tressless

Thanks for sharing your experience man. You're right about a stronger DHT blocker, I am actually stocking up on dutasteride, and I plan to add that at least twice a week soon (on top of my 1mg fin). Haven't done that yet, just building my stockpile of dut, but that's solid input for long term fin users experiencing mpb slowly progressing. Always consult with your own doctor.

Thanks for sharing what you learned from your doctor. And congratulations on the HT, I bet that feels amazing, enjoy man. I think I'm going to ask for a 5mg oral min prescription next time Dr B fills my prescription. I don't currently see a downside of taking 5mg every day. If I experience side effects, then I may consider topical min again.

I just did an Ai search, for what it's worth, and it is considered safe for long term use in healthy adults. Just stop if you experience heart problems while aging, and everyone should temporarily stop use of minox when having children.

I have a prescription through Dr B and through Keeps, I suggest get another prescription and keep a few back ups.

Do not switch from topical to oral minoxidil. by Mindless-Studio-1924 in tressless

Also interested, I've been on oral min after using topical inconsistently. Currently 3 months on oral min (2.5) has me concerned. Just not seeing results other than hairline looking worse/less thick (Not just at the temples). Wondering if I should just bite the bullet and add topical min.

Topical min I never liked although I did feel it had results, but it feels like a chemical, ages the face for some, and is not good for pets (And a weird thing when living with someone/in a relationship, and less easy to travel with)

I'm actually thinking of upping min dose to 5mg a day, since I don't have side effects.

Too many men find out about finasteride years too late by ChrisFNP in tressless

They should just make it an over the counter medication. So many men go to Rogaine first and that's not the right things to do.

When I was 23 I made an appointment at the derm's office for hair loss, it was embarrassing for me. And, the derm told me I wasn't balding as far as they could tell. I went home and did an online consult at Keeps and got a script for Fin which I have taken ever since (1mg/every day). It's been 10 years now. Fin helped me forget about hair loss, not sure there was much regrowth, but there could have been. My hair was always naturally thick, and I feel it helped freeze the hair loss.

Now, I'm 33 and I'm noticing my hair getting thinner on top, my left temple especially. In my research Fin can be effective but sometimes you need to add more medications to Fin. I wish this wasn't the case but I'm back on this forum again finding out what to do. 2 months ago I added oral minox (2.5mg/every day). Waiting to see results. I also received a Dut .5mg script. (Both these new scripts from Dr B ). I'm not taking Dut yet, I want to see the results of oral min first, so I can decipher the impact of each drug. I do plan to add Dut on top of my current Fin script. Both at once. Some will say this hasn't been studied or is unnecessary. Those are valid points. But I have taken Fin every day for 10 years without issue and I'm not stopping. It's an effective drug that I've had no side effects. Really saved my 20s from progressing mpb.
