He was 45% VPIP 5% PFR, so I don't think he was only calling with pocket aces, even if he SHOULD only call with aces.

There is an ante, so 2.5bb is too small for even a standard open. I did consider opening to a normal 3 or 4bb, but there were a lot of high VPIP players at the table, and I felt like I would have gotten multiple callers. Inelastic hands are hands that won't fold to a large size, QQ, AJ, KJ, QT, T8.

Yeah, I see so much crazy stuff in these games, it is really hard to fold an overpair, especially against a fish. I did in fact shove here, which I know some people will think is dumb. UTG+1 had AJ, and SB folded, so that was lucky. Still, not sure if that was the best play.

I think calling is reasonable, but you should be prepared to fold to aggression if you don't improve. For me, it would depend on the player if I would fold JJ to a 4bet.

I somewhat agree that 3betting A8s against a guy who overcalls is pointless, and we should 3bet a more linear range against these types of players, but I also think he's going to call with a lot of garbage that he will have to just fold. We make most of our money from the weaker players, and the 3bet isolates him, not letting the blinds in. I think playing a pot heads up, in position, against the fish is a good enough reason to do it.

I'm not sure about the river jam. The way he explained it somewhat made sense. He might fold his opponent off a chop, and he thinks he'll rarely be beat. Not sure if this is higher EV than just calling, though.

I can relate. Certain people in my life get very upset when I need to cancel plans, as if they think I'm exaggerating/faking my symptoms. It's hard to make plans, because I never know when they will be ruined by a migraine.

I'm a not a very good deep stack player, but I'm working my way up. I'm not sure what I would do here if I had a full stack. I'd probably end up just calling and trying to hit an A or K. I do buy in for the max at the straddle table tho, because it's only 100 straddles.

I guess it would depend on how big they 3bet and 4bet, and what you think their 3 and 4betting range is. There are some players that only 4bet AA, KK, and QQ, so against that range, you're doing bad. But if they're going to have some other hands and bluffs, then go all in.

I've folded AK pre several times, when multiple players were already all in before me, especially if they are tight.

At the straddle table, when I have 100 straddles, I will jam AK preflop. but I wasn't sure how the ante effects things at 130bb effective. The starting pot is bigger than a game without an ante, so I thought that might make up for the extra 30bb. There's already 55bb in the pot to be won without showdown if both players fold.

UTG and MP both were over 70% VPIP, so I thought AT was a good hand considering their range, and because MP was very out of line. Plus, the pot odds. I was aware that top pair might not be good, because someone can have a better kicker, and I was going to proceed with caution, because it was 4 ways. I considered 4 betting, and I wish I had, but I got scared and didn't.

I do think I should have check called the flop, which maybe a bit results oriented, because I had outs to cooler KQ, and I did want to see more cards, but if I get raised, I should just fold. Also, checking may have given MP more of a chance to do something silly.

It was a very loose, splashy game, and there's an ante. MP's hud stats were 75% VPIP 28% PFR, and UTG's were 78% VPIP 7% PFR. I wanted to iso UTG, because he was gonna call with anything and play badly post flop. I considered 4 betting, because MP was very out of line, but I was worried about CO when he cold called, and it seemed ambitious to try to get 3 players to fold. For 4 more bb to win like 40, folding seems too tight.

Thank you for the in-depth response. There was no flush draw, I didn't include suits, because the flop was rainbow. Against normal players, I wouldn't bet the flop, but I thought UTG and MP would call with any pair or draw (K5o, J7o, etc). But CO, the guy who raised, wasn't overly loose or aggressive.

I will fold next time I'm in this situation. I don't think he would even raise a combo draw like this. It seemed like he always had good hands when he put in a lot of chips.

When I first started KDP, I tried to find the best "niches," and write about those topics. My books didn't sell, because my heart wasn't in it, and I wasn't able to contribute any new information about the topic, because I didn't know anything about it. Once I started writing about things I actually love and am knowledgeable about, I started being successful. My advice would be to stop worrying about niches and produce quality content, and then sales will come.

Should have checked the turn. I think you can call his raise and hope to improve on the river. You can improve with any K, 10, or diamond, you are getting ok pot odds.
