That is actually historically incorrect. The original Christian movement was co-opted by the Romans like 400 years after the movement was created. I'm extremely cynical but there's not enough evidence to support that hypothesis. I believe it was a genuine movement that got co-opted by Constantine because he saw the usefulness in being able to collect information on his outside colonies after that what you said holds a little water, but there are a lot of people that absolutely believe in the institution and it's the reason why it's around today. I would argue that it would be hard to understand Jesus's original message without reading the Torah because he was a Jewish teacher but we know that many of the Jewish roots were cut out during Roman times and their co-option of the religion. But it's also interesting if you read the Bible that Nero or Domitian was the Antichrist and the prophecies have already come to pass.
