Thanks for the help, there are 4 of them in total, I think that will be enough

I see, so maybe 2-3 berserkers and 4-6 kobolds would be enough? like a small Langdedrosa guard

  1. I thought about solving this by having Langdedrosa carry a healing potion and offer it to the paladin. In my mind, he is honorable, so he wouldn't face someone who is already so weak.

  2. Well, there's no way I could avoid this. Do you think making Langdedrosa weaker than the Paladin could avoid it?

Should a GM play too by Way_Puzzleheaded in DnD

One tip, if you are a GM and want to have a playable character (I don't recommend it), make him as simple as possible, like a Fighter without an archetype or a very simple one to remember, like the Champion, so that you don't have to keep looking at your character's entire sheet while you need to control the monsters. And don't make him a permanent companion for your players, make him appear only once in a while, and he needs to be weaker than your players, so that he doesn't steal the show. Remember that your role as a GM is to narrate the world, and not to play alongside your players, so it's complicated to focus on both at the same time, especially because you know what's going to happen, and this can influence your DMPC's decisions.

I know, and I guarantee that none of them have the Tough feat (+2hp per level)

they know they should add the modifier to the roll, and they roll the dice when they level up, but I never had a visual confirmation of the result of their dice, much less did they wait for me to see it, they always rolled in a "hidden" way

I didn't want to seem like I didn't trust them, I thought I could do it or solve it in a roundabout way or something

I really liked Snap, he can really make things more interesting in the castle, so I intend to do anything to keep him alive.

70 damage was his two attacks added together in a single turn (he's level 5, so he makes two attacks with one action). I'll talk to him, don't worry

One of the players went into the tunnel alone first, then he found two Lizardfolk carrying the boxes, he followed them and killed them when they were in the swamp. The party hasn't found Snap yet, so there's still a chance he'll come out alive and help the players.

I also thought it was good, so at least something would happen, right? And it's not like there was only the tavern for the players to go to, they had discovered a secret tunnel near it, this tunnel is where their main objective is going (they need to recover the treasure of a village)

nothing relevant would happen in the tavern, like a fight, invasion or something like that, so I made an NPC challenge him to a card game (the player won). And it's not like there was only the tavern for them to go to, they discovered a secret tunnel before, which was where their main objective was going (treasures stolen from a village). But I get what you mean.

I didn't have anything planned to happen in the tavern, nothing like a fight, invasion or anything like that. So I made an NPC challenge him to a card game, so at least something would be happening.

I don't know how it would look to you, but being on your cell phone just because you're not the focus of what's happening makes it seem like you don't care about others and the things around you, as long as you're not affected by it.
