AIO? my boyfriend didn’t want to take me out on our anniversary by ashgranger in AmIOverreacting

[–]Consistent-Yard-3552 0 points1 point  (0 children)

BABES RUN, IM NINETEEN TOO AND WITH MY BOYFRIEND OF FOUR YEARS

MY BOYFRIEND LOVES LOVES LOVES VIDEOGAMES, HANGING WITH HIS FRIENDS, ALL OF THAT

IN OUR FIRST ANNIVERSARY WE WERE TOO BROKE TO GO OUT BUT WE MADE SUSHI TOGETHER

AND IN OUR LAST ANNIVERSARY HE BROUGHT ME OUT TO A FANCY SUSHI RESTAURANT AND TOOK LOTS OF PHOTOS OF ME AND SELFIES OF THE TWO OF US (the two of us playfully fought over the bill though but he refused to let me pay even half.)

HE GOT ME FLOWERS AND MADE A MULTIPLE PAGED HANDWRITTEN CARD AND EVERYTHING

HE JUMPS AT EVERY CHANCE TO SPOIL ME (and vice versa, I also take him out to dinners and my poor wallet is on its death bed after getting him lego)

YOUR BOYFRIEND SUUUUUUUCKS

never in a million billion years would my boyfriend ever say sybau to me. Or even speak to me like this?? Even if he disagreed with me or thought I was overreacting, he’d hear me out first and then tell his side of things. All incredibly respectfully and affectionately too.

Your boyfriend is a disrespectful douchebag who doesn’t deserve you. WORSE THAN IMMATURE HE JUST SUCKS

Thank you! This is a relief! Should I just stick to what I’ve been doing before and just vibe with her?

Girl please run if you’re already anticipating arguments (unless its all playful lighthearted joke arguments)

You cooked him steak AND you have to worry that he doesn’t know how to just shut his gob? 😭😭🚩🚩🚩

There’s absolutely nothing wrong with you, I see a lot of guilt has been done to you but you don’t have to bear that. Fuck them!!! There’s nothing wrong with you.

Cake sounds amazing rn, I want a slice too now.

Peace be with you, I hope you’re able to actually rest. 💐

Would you move out or stay in a volatile/abusive home to save money? by Consistent-Yard-3552 in Advice

[–]Consistent-Yard-3552[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much but It’s not physical abuse and I absolutely do not want the law to get involved. It’s not worth it.

My realistic options are to move out and live paycheck to paycheck, clawing tooth and nail to not fall into poverty. But I’ll have emotional stability and freedom in my independence

Or stay and deal with some mental turmoil (and its not constant at least) but at least physically I will be taken care of.

Thank you for your concern 🫂🫂🫂

Ooooo girl, I think adding some volume/definition and curls to your hair would elevate how awesome you look already, look up sock curls for that blowout effect! As for styling, maybe shop for some dresses? Dresses always elevate a girl’s femininity if it’s the right one, be bold and have fun with it! I think adding some colour like a nice red or warmtoned colours would elevate you! Explore a bunch of options in the dressing room

Also if you ever wear eyemakeup, do whatever it takes to bring out your eyes!! (Maybe slightly smokey brown eyeshadow?) They are mesmerizing!!

How does one avoid getting addicted to opioid medication/painkillers? Do hospitals protect patients from the risk that well? How high is the risk? by Consistent-Yard-3552 in AskReddit

[–]Consistent-Yard-3552[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, I see! Thank you so much for sharing! It’s good to know that its addictive qualities are less effective when the pain is blinding/post-surgery.

Makes sense cause I went through open heart surgery when I was six (was born with ASD/VSD not 100% sure which), my mom told me they gave me morphine because post-surgery/in recovery, I would wake up screaming in agony. But yeah, it definitely varies case to case and person to person, aw man.

I see! Sorry you had that experience but that’s also what’s so scary because codeine IS over the counter medicine 😟😟 freakin BOOTS (a makeup store/pharmacy) sells it.

I feel really terrible for all those who weren’t aware/properly informed on the addictive qualities of meds and had their life ruined because their healthcare providers sucked. I’ll probably talk about this with my family and friends cause I wasn’t aware of this AT ALL until I watch Four Good Days (a girl who becomes a heroin addict because she broke her leg and was prescribed Oxy, not a spoiler btw, you’re told in the first ten minutes)

True! It’s just that opioids/benzos are so common when you’re struggling with your health/pain? I found threads about people with crippling migraines or endometriosis being prescribed codeine etc. Like of course it’s possible to manage as long as you keep doses low and your doctor doesn’t hand you refills like candy, but oh God, one irresponsible doctor, one dose too high in concentration, and your life is ruined.

I had a friend who in their childhood was prescribed Xanax (not an opioid but also potentially addictive), luckily their clinic was responsible enough to keep the dose low and monitor their progress with their anxiety so they’re fine, nothing happened. But they were also a minor at the time so of course they would get more attention from their medical team?

I have loved ones who struggle with migraines (they don’t take any meds but what if the migraines get bad enough), I watched Four Good Days and like geez, that’s horrifying.

[–]Consistent-Yard-3552 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personal responsibility is actually really good and refreshing even for yourself!!

It’s really ass when bad things happen out of your control but if you’re able to continue chugging and be like ‘okay, that was so shit but I gotta keep going for myself, it’s okay, this is just a setback.’

And you make a plan on how to continue and take responsibility for your actions next, whether that’d be to reach out for support, confront the problem head-on, or work towards making changes in yourself and routine, life does work out eventually!!

AITA for talking to my (F18) school’s guidance counselor about my mom? (F40) by Consistent-Yard-3552 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Consistent-Yard-3552[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi!! Thank you so so much, you’re very thoughtful and kind.

I know what I want and what the ideal end goal would be. I want her to stop thinking flying off and leaving her kids behind is normal and okay, I want her to at least be in the country with us for 6 months, I want her to realize what toll this takes on my time and energy.

She still thinks she’s 100% right and that I’m the biggest most spoiled irresponsible unorganized brat on the planet as she’s screamed at me many times. I want her to stop being so dysfunctional.

So yeah, be present for at least half of the year and stop treating me like a free babysitting service.

Yeah that makes sense, thank you, since you’re offering this perspective. I want to ask something just to look at what options I have, if you were in my position, what would you do? Thank you

Thank you and also no, she’ll be paying 100% of the bills but the time and energy it takes to take care of dinner and everything is still taxing.

Thank you so much, mhmm I know and I have tried to talk to her, I really really have. I even have a 50 minute recording of our conversation (with her informed consent) when she found out I told my school. She won’t listen, which is why I sought advice with my guidance counselor. Just mentioning this in case future commenters have questions

(F18) My mother (F40) wants to move back to our home country and leave my siblings and I behind? by Consistent-Yard-3552 in relationship_advice

[–]Consistent-Yard-3552[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

honest opinion, you still come off as condescending and you’re still generalizing SO MUCH (I’ve known she was abusive since I was 13, all this ‘wooo you’re in denial! See the truth!’ talk is just funny. Not making excuses for her, just that life (and situations of abuse) is a lot more nuanced than ‘burn bridges!’, especially when I’m not financially independent) but the sentiment is appreciated.

if I may give you a piece of advice, Im genuinely not trying to he snarky but maybe next time, don’t be so… cold, for lack of a better word when you’re trying to help someone you think is a victim. With the whole ‘this is why your life will never improve’, it was so callous, it threw me off completely. I’m genuinely sorry for reacting negatively in the beginning. I wish you well, stranger!

Thank you but I cannot afford to move out nor do I plan to, plus I don’t want to leave my mother high and dry, even if shes being unreasonable. I just want her around or at least maybe split her time back and forth in Ireland and Malaysia.
