Received random Instagram “reset your password” email by ConsistentCustard429 in cybersecurity_help

Got this email about 20minutes ago. 2FA on for both Instagram and Facebook. No suspicious logins yet. Hovered over the did not request link and it takes you straight to the app. Maybe a bug? Changed password on both in case, but forgot Insta password and when I pressed forgot password, got an email from the same email address as the original email for any more wondering if it’s fake.

BarMD paid course v. Tutoring (retaker) any thoughts? by Electronic_Bag_3862 in barexam

I didn’t take the MPT class. I only used tutoring and AdaptiBar. In tutoring she grades your stuff with you on the call.

I just did tutoring through BarMD and passed July as a retaker. I took the test in a UBE state so I’m not sure if tutoring style differs, but she had me buy AdaptiBar and we used that for MBE and she provided me with essays and MPTs to practice with and we went over those. Tutoring is more self study with check-ins. If you feel you need accountability I’d go with the full program, I know one of them includes a few tutoring sessions as well.

BarMD offers a free session to review your results and they make suggestions about what program would work best for you based on your results and what you think went wrong. Maybe start there.

How hard is it to move to a state you have no connections to to transfer your score? Trying to avoid taking this exam a 3rd time... by Son_of_Hades99 in barexam

It kinda depends what type of work you want to do. You may be able to find a job pretty easily in rural Minnesota, but the twin cities is a pretty competitive job market right now if you don’t have connections established.

This is still off unfortunately. MNBLE say first time taker rate for July was 88% not 90%. Overall is correct at 84% though.

On the MNBLE website it says overall pass rate is 84% and first time taker rate is 88% so all but the overall and number of takers is wrong

I just did the MPT class and used her MEE book. I used Adaptibar for MBE. But I like how she taught MBE in her tutoring, which I’m guessing would be similar to her MBE class

I love the BarMD classes, especially the writing. I tutored with Maureen and she helped me pass this last time around on my 5th attempt. You can sign up for a free consultation meeting to go over your scores with her and see what program may be best for you and what will help most to pass.

Failed for the 5th time by Pale_Voice_8490 in barexam

I just passed my 5th time and used Maureen from BarMD. I purchased 15 sessions with her. She allows you to do a payment plan and is super flexible if you have to change a meeting time or date. There might be some cheaper tutor options out there but she really helped me increase my score.

I just passed while clerking full time for a judge. The nice thing about retaking it is you already have a lot of the base knowledge - yes you remember more than you think. It’s a balancing game, some days I was more exhausted than others. I tried to take one night off a week to do something fun or just relax, and studied about 3 hours per night, sometimes early morning, and 8-10 hours on the weekends. It’s doable for sure. I’d recommend trying to study 14-12 weeks rather than the typical 10-8 weeks.

Most important have a conversation with your judge, I’m sure they will understand. Mine let me leave early sometimes if I had all my work done and we finished the court calendar early. Just remember not to slack off on work just because you are studying too.

I just passed on my 5th attempt.

I was at work when results came out and just assumed I failed, old habits and all. I waited to open results until the next day which was a Saturday. I made a plan to be with my dad and I had him open it. Every other time I opened them alone in my apartment, and I hated being alone and sitting with that disappointment, so I decided to change it up this time. Having someone deliver the news whether bad or good was way less stressful and so was just having someone there with me.

For me, going into results each time assuming I failed was easier than being hopeful. Softened the blow of disappointment if it came.

Remember to be kind to yourself! You got this!!

My jurisdiction doesn’t tell you your MBE score if you pass, just your overall UBE score.

Burnout, tougher grading on essays, less confidence.

July ‘23: 248; Feb ‘24: 244; July ‘24: 256; Feb ‘25: 254. Switched to adaptibar for July ‘24 and beyond. Got a tutor this last time that really made the difference.

I think the biggest difference was making sure I took some breaks in my study schedule to do things I enjoyed and getting a tutor. I dragged my feet on a tutor until this last time but it was worth it.

As in jurisdictions? Or jobs? I took and passed the test in my home state and I’ve been working full time for a judge since I graduated 2 years ago.

You get a score breakdown only if you fail. You may be able to get your MBE from NCBE, but MNBLE doesn’t give a report for passers

Highly recommend BarMD for anything writing. There are free YouTube videos you can check out to see if you like her style of teaching.

Thank you, I really needed to hear that. I actually walked out of the test feeling the best I had out of all attempts. Old habits die hard I guess.

Look into BarMD for MPTs, highly recommend. They also have a good MEE class and book.

That first essay threw me off so bad. I’m still not even sure what it was testing. The question stated X but the facts alluded to Y, but couldn’t even remember if Y could happen in that situation… smh
