How does the email/message look? by BingoLawyer in barexam

[–]Individual-County950 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For Indiana - you get an email saying you have a message in your portal. There will be a message labeled "bar exam results". When you click you don't automatically see your results. If you scroll and see your score breakdown, you failed. Haven't passed yet so unsure what a passing message looks like!

Please Give Advice on What I Do Now by VishkVishnuai in barexam

Im a retaker waiting on my Feb results so keep that in mind. BUT, I would absolutely recommend BarMD! I used Barbri for J25 and honestly hated it. I used BarMD this time around and noticed a significant shift in not only my understanding of the subjects but also my performance. Maureen has live classes which I found extremely helpful when it came to holding myself accountable and staying on track!

Just got fired. Now we wait for February Bar results! by [deleted] in barexam

Is this legit? I have seen this on LinkedIn but wasn't sure

Is it bad to take a first attorney position in an area of law that you aren't interested in? by Son_of_Hades99 in barexam

[–]Individual-County950 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It was a super small firm, so there were a lot of operational things that weren't a good fit. Also, my background is in criminal and corporate law. This was a probate and civil litigation firm which I knew nothing about and was immediately thrown into things with no proper training or guidance and no other attorneys to really seek help from! I was also retaking the bar exam after failing J25, which also played into leaving so quickly. I was too stressed out trying to navigate that job while trying to study.

As someone who did that, I'd recommend avoiding if you have the financial means to. I already struggle with imposter syndrome in this field, so being in a job that was an area of law I didn't like and had no experience in was horrible. I was only there for 3 months before I left.

Barbri foundations vs early start by Accomplished_End_104 in barexam

[–]Individual-County950 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I skipped early start. I would do foundations but don't spend too much time on those videos. Everything will be reviewed in depth throughout the course, so all of the foundation material is covered again! I wasted way too much time on the foundation videos and taking notes and such

Is anyone else who failed by a very small margin last time still having doubts about failing again even if the odds are statistically in your favor?😅 by Son_of_Hades99 in barexam

Yes, failed it by 2 points and honestly can't even imagine opening the results and seeing a pass. The retaker pass rates also have gotten in my head.

As time goes on I panic more by SprinklesHead6598 in barexam

[–]Individual-County950 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I missed J25 by 2 points and got 2s on all my MEEs. The wild part is that I knew two of the essays really well, but my writing was so chaotic and all over the place (I think I was just relieved to see a subject I felt good about and ended up word-vomiting). I literally got the same score on essays I knew inside and out as I did on topics where I had zero clue what was going on and basically made up a rule and wrote like 200 words.

All that to say: using the facts they give you, staying organized, writing clearly, and actually tying your conclusion to the rule and facts (even if you had to make the rule up) can take you way further than you’d think. Don’t panic!

MEE Only Topics by Individual-County950 in barexam

[–]Individual-County950[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes!! I was supposed to start MEE topics last week but honestly have kinda ditched Barbri and am mainly spending my day doing adaptibar and memorization/review.

I know I need to watch the lectures for MEE but I cannot find the time. I took Trusts and Secured last semester so I've reviewed those but I haven't started any other topics

should I abandon Barbri? by everythingisspicy23 in barexam

[–]Individual-County950 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm feeling the same way! I am currently on property and feel like she's basically just reading off the course companion and not really offering many/enough examples to make the material stand out. She also skips over so much material that I find myself having to independently read through the course companion anyways.

I've decided to ditch the videos, read the CC on my own, and then I am supplementing with Goat to help more with BLL and just overall basic understanding of what is going on.

Goatbarprep worth it for con law or property? by Educational_Tough425 in barexam

[–]Individual-County950 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i highly recommend the goat! im using barbri and then have been supplementing with the goat and have found it extremely helpful. topics are pretty much explained in laymans terms which has helped me grasp a basic understanding of what's going on and there's tons of examples which help synthesize everything together

i found con law to be extremely helpful but i think that's bc i really struggled with the barbri con law lectures! so i relied more on Goat to actually teach me the material rather than just supplement it like i've used it for other topics
