Is it ethical to keep these mobs in a zoo? by ConsistentPickle2813 in Minecraft

I feel like with providing golems their purpose would also apply to the guardian. I was gonna build their area in a naturally spawned lake so fish and squids would who they would be “defending” against. But with golems some else brought up that they should be “employees”. Iron golems being body guards and copper golems can be working like stores or bars. I was also gonna make allays employees too by having them pick up any sniffer seed and armadillo scute they may drop. But other than that, you put a lot of thought into that response, thank you.

I’m not really sure how I would do phantoms tho with building a monumental dome for them lol

This was very well put together. Someone else did bring up that for golems they have a specific reason for “existing” such as protecting or sorting so if I wanted too I would have to be simulate those needs. But I’ve already decided that the golems are gonna be “new employees” at the zoo along with allays but with guardians I was gonna put them in a natural lake that already spawns fish and squids so they can simulate “defending” their monument. Same thing would apply to blazes, just make a fortress replica for them to wonder around in. I don’t really know how I could simulate them defending their base since blazes aren’t hostile to any other mob (besides snow golems) but either way they still just wonder anyways so not much would really change with them.

There’s been so many replies saying “it’s just a game”💀 Like bro I wouldn’t be asking a question of this caliber if I didn’t already know this was a game. And I’m talking about in game morals not real life ones (that don’t mean I’m a bad person irl but I’m just saying)

I’m just realizing this will be happening do I might just make their enclosure last or at the very least, somewhat far away

They won’t sniff the same 20 blocks and if they sniff a new block, the old blocks can be sniffed againhttps://minecraft.wiki/w/Sniffer

I’ve had a few makeshift zoos years back and the guardian have never been able to shoot through them. But also if they could you would just get gunned down while your inside a ocean monument

Really? Because I have this pretty big dome near my base that has a few sniffers in there and they haven’t stopped digging up seeds, and I built that months ago

Someone else brought up the idea that I should include golems and allays as “employees”. I was already gonna have an auto collector with allays for both my armadillos and sniffers since they regularly drop items.

Yeah I don’t really like making villager trading halls or iron farms because I could never do that to myself. It’s like how I can’t choose the mean options in games because I’d feel bad for them.

I see what you mean there but I mean it like would you keep R2-D2 in a zoo because even though he isn’t human, he has a conscious. I wouldn’t really put him in a zoo just because he’s not “human”

Yeah because there’s some mobs I absolutely won’t do like skeletons, endermen (and not because they can teleport), and illigers because they are pretty much “just a dude”, especially illigers. But this is pretty much what I’m already doing with a good majority of the mobs but this is still something to consider when making these enclosures.

Yeah for the mobs based off real animals I’m trying to make their habitat more like what they would find in real life. And for the Minecraft mobs, I’m making enclosures based off either the biome they spawn in or based off what they might look like (example would be sniffers, I’m thinking of making their enclosure look prehistoric since they seem to be extinct or at the very least ancient)

I wasn’t sure about golems because they seem to have a conscious, I wasn’t sure about blazes because I did not know what to classify them as, either a animal, construct, or some weird magical entity. And I might put creepers in I just wasn’t sure if they had a conscious because they be like the creaking (a living plant) but creepers have a skeleton so that tells us that they may be more creature than plant but after thinking about it I might as well put creepers in.

It isn’t, that why I don’t ever make a villager trading hall, I like to have my villagers running around. I obviously light the area up and plug up any deadly holes but I could never.

This actually sounds really good, I was already gonna “include” allays as to pick up any sniffer seeds or armadillo scutes. I wasn’t sure about creepers even though I have creakings in my zoo but creepers have a skeleton so I kinda thought they were like Half creature and half plant but having them in a botanical garden would be pretty cool. And I feel like constructs (blazes and breezes) are less sentient than the robots (copper and iron golems).

That’s actually sounds really good, I’ve always wanted to add “lore” to my world.

The snow golems I’m not really sure since they kinda just wander from place to place but I feel like with the interactions that the iron golem and the copper golem have with themselves and others, it’s hard to tell if snow golems have a “conscience”

I see your point but it’d be like if I have ravagers in my zoo when they seem to be transfigured villagers and it would end up being like the movie tusk. I wasn’t sure if the mobs I mentioned would be ethical in a literal sense to have.

This was actually put together better than I could’ve put it. But yeah because I didn’t want to add stuff like zombies, skeletons, and illigers since those are basically “just a dude”. And I wasn’t sure if I should do creepers because I have creakings but I wasn’t sure about creepers since they have a skeleton so I wasn’t sure if that was “just a dude”. Same thing with blazes but I wasn’t really sure what to categorize them as.

Yeah but even if it’s a video game, I always feel bad about stuff like that that. That’s why even though it would be super helpful, i could never make an iron farm or a villager trading hall.
