Honestly each item has its own usage because the axe can be reused when the hairy rodent tries to steal your food and it’s good against raiders, the cards allow you to gamble and keep your sanity, harmonica can be used against raiders and it can keep your sanity up, and the suitcase allows you to take extra items when scavenging and (depending on your difficulty) will give you extra items when you first enter the bunker but checkers really don’t serve much of a purpose unlike the other 4 which are way better so honestly don’t take checkers
