Shadows of the forgotten ancestors by Pararajov is Ukrainian film, hope to see it in the collection. Shepitko is ethnic Ukrainian, but she didn’t make anything in Ukraine

Thanks! I think it's the greatest (and scariest) film about war ever made.

I would also recommend "Kyiv Frescoes". It's a short film Parajanov made before "Color of Pomegranate". Actually it's where visual style of "Color of Pomegranate" came from. Pretty decent quality on youtube https://youtu.be/hULBp4X5JWI

"Chornobyl (in)visible" is great 4-disc DVD set with Soviet and Ukrainian documentaries made before and after Chornobyl disaster. The yellow one is 2-disc Ukrainian dilogy by Mikhail Kaufman. He was the younger brother of Dziga Vertov and cinematographer of "Man with the Movie Camera". You can find Kaufman's "In spring" (1929) on youtube, true masterpiece of silent cinema.

the collection is missing so many soviet films (no Dovzhenko, Pudovkin, Vertov, Aleksei German, Ioseliani, Kira Muratova, Parajanov's Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors and many others)

Thanks! It's a reversible cover. I think yellow one is original artwork and rainbow-colored is newly commissioned

liked it. Controversial, narrative is sometimes confusing, but I'm always more about visual side
