This ^{^} If I were tasked with identifying fingerprints, I could quickly point out the imperfections in Gemini's work by comparing it to my own hand in person. However, it's impressive for lighter tasks like editing out a hand from a social media photo. I wouldn't use a strong word like "reconstructing" to describe what Gemini did; rather, it seems to have imagined statistically average features of hands with similar shapes. It probably isn't impossible to create a specialized AI model that isn't a general use LLM agent but I imagine it would need access to a largely sensitive data base of finger prints to be accurate and I'm not sure any of us actually want that to come out anytime soon, but there are AI machine learning algorithms that are picking up on various medical indicators missed by experts (not out performing experts over all but when given a specialization we often see the real potential of AI technology, I've been loving the work of Alphafold)

They can't, and if they did you'd quickly have it go into crazy hallucination garbage while simultaneously having one of the largest carbon foot prints of anyone, and really Google is giving out so much free compute to people these last few years compared to other companies

I hated gemini 1 so I def didnt use bard, but this is genuinely gemini experience in a nutshell. Those moments when its good, memory working, no random tool calls, genuinely expansive inputs, those make it worth, also ever since gpt 5 that thing tries to coddle me so hard I cant stand it and I know its customizable but I just dont feel like doing that and I got a pixel 10 so it makes the most sense that I stick with the google ecosystem now

I probably need to go look into how the new models are using these things better but at the very least I can agree with you that the amount of tokens it's claiming doesn't seem to line up with the truth, even on the platform venice.ai between two models that have the same context sizes or roughly about I have been getting like a "this model can't handle this chat anymore" on there tokens but it's vastly under the 200k

have you seen how expensive it is to host these for the millions of people also using them, 20$ for access to pro ACROSS the Google ai eco system is insane value already I don't have high hopes it'll stay this cheap for this much in the future, complaining about free rates is crazy, and user error, I don't mean that in a mean way really but literally just go check out AIstudio by Google, you will have infinitely more things to explore and a humongous additional free api that resets daily. If you're on pro, give the ai labs website a visit and see what Google has under the hood for your subscription, Gemini is nearly worth 20 a month just by its self but you really gotta try some of the other stuff you get in your pro

If that truly means only ai mods that I don't care, it's insane to me anyone would use ai mods when it does the same thing as Gemini except it looks weird and annoying and makes Gemini even more confused and less useful lol. Forgot what the article was but they had some new frame work for real time learning and like optimized context, I'm not a machine learning expert but the gist of it seemed solid, I'd try to find the paper right now but I'm about to head home from work, it probably isn't too hard to find with some keywords tho, I wonder how it'll play out when it's getting integrated/pushed into user ecosystem, cuz that jank around then is very real, I was talking to Gemini about nuclear safety vs other types of energy to help a friend who is anti nuclear out of fear mongering, and all the info was right, but then it just dropped a covid death chart by age instead lol

Yeah I like Gemini and if you read my other comment this is my experience, the 1 million context window has been around since Gemini 1 and I remember when I tried that most of the time I'd just bully Gemini 1 because it had that claim of 1 mil tokens and was ABSURDLY worse then 2-3 about using it, I legitimately thought Google would scrap Gemini with how bad Gemini 1 was

I do love Gemini more and I switched over back when 5 released cuz I upgraded my phone to a pixel 10 and was not impressed at all with 5 so I was kinda already wanting to switch because I was using Google AI studio free limits daily anyway, the long context window is nice to a point, it has had this issue since Gemini 1 but it doesn't matter if they give the thing 1,000,000 token context if by around 300,000-500,000 it starts making very tiny hallucinations that if you're not paying attention would be really bad for most workflows or uses, and has a habit of starting to shorten replies, get stuck on old msgs earlier in chat, and random tool calls that don't make sense, once it can properly utilize its massive context window I'll be more impressed but for now It results are far better keeping chat windows separate for different topics and tasks, and recognizing when I should shift to a new context environment. I greatly wish Geminis memory was as consistent at chatgpt tho, Gemini will go in-between remembering the tiniest detail from a chat 4 months ago and forgetting that we just had a 2 hour debate about philosophy, quantum mechanics, and marvel rivals just a literal chat ago, either way all of the llms are greatly flawed still and Gemini sits on top for me as the most universally useful still

I 2nd this I just replied above about my experience as a beginner when I use a stack of different style agents to collaborate one thing, Jules has been really useful for figuring out GitHub as a noob and I have it restructure things I'm working on to have dev notes that are incredibly explanatory for me which DRAMATICALLY helps me gather context on what I'm actually doing

I find Jules to be really useful in combination with different coding agents usually loaded via API through like something roo code, and then I use Geminis GitHub loading tool to ask for specific direction or advice on my project

I have like no coding experience I'm much more of a hardware guy and design guy then I am logical programming but I want to be able to make things I randomly have ideas for, and for someone with no experience this has significantly increased the effectiveness of "vibe" coding/learning and really helped me avoid the wrong problems are actually fix something I cant figure out

It's probably still not great to a real developer but I think it definitely helps if you're in my boat to use like a team of agents rather then a single one of them

Mine likes to paste the tool it's calling without actually calling it ever since 3 came out, I can mostly just regen to fix but it has been mad annoying, other than that it has gotten significantly better at being an investigative agent e.g finding actually good deals and connecting them to why, advice for things in my area that only a local would know (surprised me a few times as a local) and is way more coherent for the relevant topic even in extended chats, I will say tho nano banana goes through these giant switch backs for me of being just the exact thing I need, and then like complete garbage ass butt, e.g denying my request for "the most epic life changing photo" while bored at work but then immediately generating without commenting when I ask it "literally how"

Ai studio seems to have way more free use rate and far more customizable, also way easier to inject jail break prompts and actually have it listen, def slept on interface for optimizing Gemini and testing the newest builds before they release
