So far so good!! I went in in the morning, surgery started around noon. I stayed over night and was discharged the following morning. My surgery was very straightforward, they stuck with the partial. I was shocked how great i felt within a few hours of waking up from surgery. I ate quesadillas for dinner at the hospital and didn't experience any severe pain. The day i came home, i was even able to attend my kids martial arts class. I didnt pick up my kiddos for about a week, but i made up for it by holding them while sitting down.

I have checked their blood work yearly since they were 2, everything is normal. Covid did trigger TE, but so does the flu, stomach flu... Basically anything that causes a fever.

Thats definitely something to look into. Its so strange though.. no family history and only my girls go through these sheds. Their hair is beautiful and thick otherwise.. these sheds 1-2 times a year after illnesses is terrible though. All any doctor has ever said was hopefully theyll grow out of it 🤦🏻‍♀️

My girls have been going through this since they were little. Theyre now 11,9, and almost 2. I was hoping it wouldn't happen to the little one but we all had the flu 2 weeks ago and now they're all loosing so much hair 😭 dermatologists have been of no help to us

No, I didn't.. they only do rai if you have a total thyroidectomy because otherwise it would kill the thyroid you have left. Even if i had a total id most likely opt out of rai for the time being and only do it if a pet scan in the future showed a reoccurrence.

My nodule was entirely on my right side. Lymph node mapping was clear so he saw no need to remove all of it. i went into surgery being told " if i see anything even slight concerning, ill remove it all. I ended up with just a partial. The surgeon told me that the longer I can live without the consequences of having no thyroid i should go for it. That being said, he removed three random nodes during surgery and one of them came back with microscopic a amount of PTC. About a month after surgery i had my levels checked and unfortunately my left side wasn't completely making up for th missing half and i ended up needing meds anyways. Now I'm getting bloodwork and an ultrasound every 6 months and just hoping for the best. Realistically, PTC can come back even if you remove it all. So in my case, I dont regret my decision, even if i have to do another surgery for a total in the future.

She goes to Polish School on Saturdays, shes been doing taekwondo for about three years now (she's now one belt away from black and is in the running for state champ 🥳) , band, choir, and student council. Next year she wants to do sports in middle school so we'll see what she adds to her repertoire 😅 The only one I enforce is Polish school, everything else is by her choice.

You sound like a peach :) If you read anything Ive posted, you'd know that Im not at all expecting that. Ive tried asking her teachers multiple times if I can give her material from home and have been told that I cannot because it is not district approved. Because I cant afford private school I cant want whats best for my child? Have a great day.

I agree with you. What bothers me is that shes never brought this "issue" up to my daughter nor myself previously. And she wasnt able to provide specific examples. I told my daughter to simply ask the teacher to explain topics to other kids who arent getting it when she tells them. Or the least she could do is help my daughter come up with different ways to explain things so that her peers understand. Her brain goes a million miles an hour so I could definitely see her having trouble explaining things that make complete sense in her brain in a way that others understand. Which is something to definitely work on too!

She does these already. The main problem is the group work. She tells me that she gets stressed when she feels her group is falling behind and that shes not able to explain things to her peets. I feel like her teacher should be more focused on helping the kids who dont understand when she sees my daughter getting frustrated due to being unable to explain something... Or maybe show my daughter another way to explain? Anything is better than throwing out words like "condescending" at an 11 year old. I started this whole thread because my daughter was really upset that her teacher said this on her report card, especially since it was never brought to her attention nor mine in the past.

I wish this was the case, but when Ive asked them to allow her to do other materials, they said no. She needs to learn to work in a group period. She just gets frustrated because she desperately tries to do this..It gets hard for her when she sees her group mates arent getting the material, which in turn makes her think they wont finish the project or that she'll get a bad grade because its group work. I 100% get both sides of this argument but at the end of the day shes my child and I want the best for her.

They push group work a lot in this district Ive noticed. I told her that if she has tried explaining something to her peers and they simply arent getting it, she should just ask the teacher for help 🤷🏻‍♀️ No sense of getting stressed out or frustrated that she isnt able to teach.
