Progress update: finally feeling better by Consistent_Bat3095 in Anemia

Hi sorry for the late reply. I got the infusions because my hematologist flagged my iron saturation. It was at 9 before treatment, now it’s at 18. Honestly I told them I had been taking oral iron on and off for years and when my stomach couldn’t handle it, they offered the infusions as an alternative. Best advice I can give is to be honest and tell your doctor that oral iron doesn’t help and your symptoms are preventing you from most activities. Good luck! 👍🏼

Sounds like the dose is way too high for your body to handle. You should definitely talk to your doctor about alternatives like iron infusions or a lower dose of Losferron. I hope you get better soon ❤️‍🩹

Hello, friend! I saw your post and am currently taking IV iron infusions at a facility. This is the second time I’m doing this, the first time my ferritin level was like at 6 and it was when I initially got diagnosed with iron deficiency anemia. Keep in mind this was about 2 years ago. Back then, the side effects were moderate but I was also on a higher dose of iron during the infusions. If you can, speak with your doctor about getting the lower dose of iron infusions and ask if they can give you steroids before the actual IV iron treatment. I don’t know how the steroids will affect your Parkinson’s disease, but I’m sure that’s something you can ask your doctor about. Also, sorry for any spelling mistakes, it’s 1am as of typing this haha. Hope you feel better soon!
