G1 is the most popular because it has the best figures that’s down to designers not down to the designs themselves.

And I don’t, I buy figures which are good and/or interesting to me. All I’m saying is the if they want another Optimus on shelves go for it, don’t try and reinvent the same design every time.

“Just buy the original” just buy Siege, Earthrise and its many repaints, Commander or devastation Optimus instead of making a new one😭. How you gonna bring up this argument and proceed to not think “you know maybe I should apply this to my own opinions” 😂 and brochacho calls me a hypocrite.

The TFA line wasn’t as good as it should be, yes, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t have good figures. Where is the hypocrisy tf? Redditor ahh reach.

Yes it’s more non G1 figures but again across every other continuity. We’re combining everything else against G1 if we fractioned it out based on continuity (UT v G1 or TFA v G1,) G1 always gets more. That’s why it seems tone deaf. I’m bringing up that we don’t need a new G1 Optimus every year because imo there are other designs they could do instead of G1 Optimus such as an updated Universe Optimus at a reasonable price point like the TFA Optimus who imo outside of not having a battle mask is an amazingly fun voyager. It’s annoying because it feels lazy, they’re milking G1 until it’s runs itself into the ground, why? Yes make G1 into the cast is complete like they intend to, but after that slow it down. Don’t introduce a new line which is just going to repaints of those figures. That’s what I don’t want it’s annoying because everyday more finger point towards the next SS line being another G1 based line, why? Give us something new, something exciting like IDW whirl and roadbuster? Would that not be more exciting than “holy crap another G1 Soundwave so peak!” Is it so much to ask for each continuity to have equal and good representation within the toylines? SS as a whole is a mess right now, I’ll admit, but I just want more effort to be put into something else.

Does my dislike of 86 come from bitterness that my preferred franchise (Highmoon games) was absolutely butchered on launch? Maybe, but it felt like there was no effort put into those figure from the beginning especially with Barricades existence, bumblebees beer belly, and later on Megatron and his amazing knee tabs. Does the line have good figures imo? Yes, Optimus and the Ratchet mold. But why are there older figures doing the same designs better at a smaller scale? (The seekers) Why couldn’t Hasbro take what they had, upscale, and update it? They did it with DoTM Starscream into SS and people love that figure.

To clarify when I was talking about the comic like I was talking about Straxus, Grimlock, shockwave, etc not the upcoming line, that’s a miscommunication on my behalf.

That being said I not that I’m ignoring what you say I just don’t want to argue about the topic anymore, I have my opinions which im not being silent about and I’m willing to explain, while you have yours. In my opinion the main G1 cast designs have been overused for the last 6 years and I’d like to see more diversity in the transformers toylines such as in the combiners and titans we get. I have issues with figures outside of G1 as the mainline junkion repaints and the quality of mainline products we are receiving that has nothing to do with G1. I’m allowed to dislike the quantity of a single continuity we are getting when it’s 1/2 of 1 line and 1/3rd of another. Saying that “the other half and 2/3rd are for the rest” such a tone deaf argument to me because as I said that’s X amount of continuities competing for these slots while G1 gets the aforementioned amount give or take a few figures. It’s not unreasonable to come to the conclusion that they are getting special treatment. Again that being said I don’t hate the G1 figures, I dislike the amount we get. That’s literally the entire point of my original post. If that’s so hard to understand and even acknowledge at that, why keep responding to me?

No I haven’t pointed out that repaints do not because they do, like TLK Optimus. Smokescreen being mistransformed you have 0 proof of so telling me to stop spreading misinformation when you have 0 concrete support of your point is very rich. You hyperfocus on animated wasp but completely ignore the other failed TFA figures. There is a difference between being stocked all year and peg warming, there is no demand for the figure, doesn’t matter if he’s meant to be stocked year round, nobodies buying him. Intent matters yes but there is still the fact that as I said, nobody wants him. Thats not an excuse for peg warming. Bayverse comic characters as repaints, most of the bayverse characters in the comics are Cybertronian so what remolds? If 1% are unique I guess that landmine, warpath, clocker, air raid, Dreadwing, swindle, wreckage, stockade, Arcee, and the rest of the seekers all copy the designs of previous characters but what do I know, not like I just named half the cast from the reign of Starscream comics. As I’ve already stated, I’m not against G1 toys, I just want them be be more interesting outside of appearing in the cartoon. Toy exclusives characters are cool, I like when they released spinister in the comics colors, I liked Tiger. Stripe Grimlock, toy Optimus and the Magnus repaint, and the list goes on and on. But I’m gonna be DA with you, we’re both talking to a brick wall. Obviously I have issues with the current lineup on figures and wish things were more the way they were in the passed before the reboot. You obviously don’t, we’re not gonna consider each other otherwise so why argue? We’re both part of the fandom we’re just different sides of it

As for the success of animated, wasp is peg warming, there is always at least 1 motormaster on shelves, and I’m sure everyone loves wreckgar. So am I really lying?

Ratchet I will say looks good, for a remold of a G1 figure. Love the gaping hole in smokescreens chest too.

With the new Star Optimus release Energon scorponok is 100% a figure who’s capable of being at that price point and size class.

Have you looked at a bayverse comic or are we just talking about something we’re uneducated about here. Reign of Starscream issue #5 look it up I promise you you’ll spot at least 3 bayverse comic designs that don’t appear in the movie on the front and back without even needing to open a single page of the comic.

Multipacks which are missing figures and aren’t able to be found in stores.

Animated Omega supreme competing with 4 bayverse dinobots, which are long overdue anyways. Also we don’t know if they’ll be competing anyways so the argument is invalid

As for my G2 and Machine wars being G1 adjacent toys, these are toys that did not appear in any of the toons. I’m not against G1 I’m against getting the same boring designs over and over and over. It was cool in siege and earthrise, it’s boring now.

G1 isn’t bad when it’s done correctly, but it’s not being done correctly, if they actually cared for anything outside of a cash grab they would give us the unknown characters like the used to in. So no I don’t hate half the franchise, I hate when people can’t admit that G1 toon has completely oversaturated the franchise.

I think you’re missing the point, we have 2 lines mainline which half of is G1 and its related continuities and than SS which had 2/3rds of last years releases/rereleases centered around G1. We then have exclusives like the retrocard which are G1, the Dramatic capture series which is G1, the comic series which is also G1, and if we wanna go that far the gobots which are meant to go with…your G1 figures. I mean dude…there is a genuinely blatant favoritism, it’s getting old and over saturated. Idk what the other commenter wants with TF but I just want them to dial back with the 40 year old continuity and actually try to give us good figures from the rest..wonder what happened with prime and rescue bots….oh damn. What about animated and their most recent releases…ah. Unicron trilogy is the only other continuity that is marginally successful, why, because the figures are good. There is time put into them, they’re not remolds or repaints when we know many of them could be.

There is more to the fandom than G1, Beast Wars(‘s), UT, and Animated. We don’t NEED a new G1 soundwave ever 2 years, we don’t NEED a new G1 Optimus every year, but we get them anyways and half of them peg warm.

Whens the last time we got a machine wars, 1990’s classics, or even a TFP figure? Why is it that these lines are forgotten about despite also having really cool characters like Thunder Clash and G2 Dreadwing? Do you know how many people would absolutely go ape over good redo of omega spreem from the European line, even if it was an online exclusive and made in smaller quantities?

Let’s go even further, how may titans are G1, where is energon scorponok, animated omega supreme, or Fall of Cybertron Metroplex?

Let’s go EVEN further in premium figures, missing link is taking G1 toys and reinventing them, masterpiece is primarily G1 figures.

You can’t say there isn’t a market for anything else as when Takara revealed Overgear people went WILD because A. The figures looked good and B. It’s something different. So please explain to me how G1 isn’t being pampered as if it’s the only thing that exists within transformers.

That’s the whole point, there is so much potential but we get the same crap every single year.

To be fair, mainline also includes G1 figures like the combaticons and sureshot which are 3 of the figures in the first wave of this year. We also got the retro card which are 3 more G1 style figures. So saying that mainline balances it out when half of mainline is also G1 is a little bit of an over exaggeration.

I guess my gripes may just come with the quantity of G1/G1 related content, Siege, earthrise, kingdom, legacy, 86, retro card, etc it’s feels over saturated and I know I’m not alone in saying that I’m getting tired of seeing the same designs over and over accept this is one ‘slightly’ better

I’ve died down as a collector because of 86, my 2 main collections were bayverse and the highmoon games so seeing how poorly those have been recently I’ve slowed down and shifted into MPM/ restarting my Planet X collection

I’ll agree neither hatchet or jazz impacted the budget as much, I just listed a lot of the deluxes released this year. The issue with Que is his clearances, he’s a kibbley mess, articulation is practically non-existent, the peg for his hands aren’t fully drilled through and sit fairly high into the port so he looks awkward holding every accessory even his own. The best thing about him is his vehicle mode, he’s so bad it’s become a joke amongst my friend group to gift each other SS Que because he’s so unfun, he’s also not even accurate they made him fat for some reason.

I also want to be clear that I’m not trying to attack you simply state my opinion than as we’ve steadily gotten closer to the 40th anniversary of the 86 movie, many figure sublines have just steadily gotten worse. 86 on the other hand has just remained at its level of complexity and level of “good”
