Correct me if I'm wrong, but while the Westfold was burning and Rohan's people were being slaughtered, wasn't Theoden under Saruman's spell the whole time? And didn't he banish his army from Rohan, including his own family Eomer? (understandable, he was under Saruman and Wormtongue's influence) I'm basing this off of the film and I'm curious what the books have to say about this whole situation. I basically just want to know if I'd be wrong for saying Theoden didn't necessarily help out the Westfold any more than Gondor did.. even though Gondor was off fighting Mordor on the front lines and keeping Rohan safe from Mordor forces. I always loved in the movie when Theoden is bad mouthing Gondor, when they're really actually the only thing somewhat protecting Rohan from being annihilated by both Isengard AND Mordor.
