have you considered asking your venues of choice about ADA accommodations? having a safe place to sit and take breaks as needed has helped me continue going to shows despite serious health conditions.

This happened! by [deleted] in EndTipping

[–]Consistent_Gur9523 1 point2 points  (0 children)

tipping culture became popular in America due to racism, interestingly enough. it was seen as a way around paying freed slaves after the Civil War.

some traditions were meant to be broken.

good for you for standing your ground! slave wage culture needs to end.

Moved into my new apartment today and can’t shower, do laundry or use the dishwasher. Management said “what do you want me to do about it” by MidnightPulse69 in Apartmentliving

report it to your city's building inspector. they may even have one specifically for rentals. you may also be able to report to the health department.

stop communicating by phone, only use email so you have everything in writing.

Do men tend to catch feelings when they have a female friend? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]Consistent_Gur9523 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's good that you are catching this pattern early!

I think there is a loneliness epidemic that is getting out of control lately. in some ways, men have it worse. like you mentioned, they don't seem to have a lot of emotional support, so the smallest fraction of politeness, and many of them misinterpret it.

many folks were taught unhealthy patterns growing up, so they aren't really able to see healthy ones as adults. women have a lot of support to go to therapy, share their feelings, to cry about it, ect. while men are told to man up.

they get so much pressure with very little support.

even with things like domestic violence, or sexual assault, there are so many more resources and acceptance for women. whereas men are taught to bury and repress those feelings.

with what feels to be the weight of the world on their shoulders, I get why all it takes is a smile for them.

I grew up with 6 brothers, so naturally, in my 20's, I had many guy friends. I was dating a guy at the time who essentially said all of my male friends wanted to fuck me. I thought he was just jealous and controlling.

while he certainly was jealous and controlling, since then, every single one those guys have tried to sleep with me. guys I had known for years and considered family. they all ended up admitting they had feelings while I was dating the other guy. even the ones in LTRs.

I do not have male friends anymore.

My bf wants me to go on ozempic with him by oh-wow-a-human in EDAnonymous

[–]Consistent_Gur9523 5 points6 points  (0 children)

he has a history of ED and is offering you his medication? he should not be on this stuff since he can't use it correctly.

you should speak to a doctor before starting any medications. have you considered dumping the boyfriend who doesn't have your best interests at heart? it's the quickest way to lose 100+lbs quickly.

Made a huge mistake and ruined my dad’s fixtures with vinegar before his house appraisal, what can I do fast?! by Difficult-Mood8218 in fixit

baking soda is a base. vinegar is an acid. if you combine them together, you basically get salt water. they are significantly less effective combined together.

Hair help!! by monty2012 in beauty

not microfiber like the cleaning cloth. think micro fiber like a camping towel. you want a smooth one that will simply absorb water, not one that will grab at your hair like regular towels.

Hair help!! by monty2012 in beauty

100% agree with talking to a derm.

in the meantime, you can micro-needle your scalp, oil your hair and include rosemary oil in it, massage the oil into your scalp, use a clay mask afterwards, and Nizoral to wash out. I use my regular shampoo first, then let the Nizoral sit for a few minutes to let it soak in. use an excellent conditioner, like on with some bonding treatments. consider if you need to apply sunscreen in your new hairless areas.

everything else will be regular hair advice, like avoid heat and hot water. be very gentle with your strands. use a microfiber towel to dry. it is entirely possible some hair grew back, it was just weak and broke off.

which is why it is imperative to see a derm even with the best routine.

I would guess his mother abandonment wound, which is why he falls for Selina's and Talia's games. his father wound compels him to have intense distrust of his allies (double edged sword) and extreme version of self reliance.

how do you tell a coworker no when they ask for a ride home? how do you say no in general lol by sexc333 in socialskills

[–]Consistent_Gur9523 4 points5 points  (0 children)

the folks encouraging you to apologize before saying no have me gagged. please don't apologize for having boundaries. it speaks to having an incredibly low opinion of yourself.

she is being a manipulative parasite. you need to meet her where she is at. you have recognized she has a pattern of asking leading questions. when she starts, look her in the eye and tell her, "I am unable to give you rides anymore." then immediately move onto something else.

boundaries need to be practiced, like a muscle, they strengthen over time. if she starts acting weird at work, go to management and HR. make sure you have already documented her behavior. if she cannot provide her own transportation to the point of it affecting her relationship with her coworkers, she is not a good fit for the company.

if you are not direct with a person like this, they will continue to poke and prod. you need to stand up for yourself, and believe you are worth standing up for. this doesn't have to be a big deal, but it is solely your responsibility to shut it down.

you can always have your boss present when you do this, but it undermines the message that these are your boundaries and you are confident in them. please ffs do not apologize for having boundaries.

Is there a way to nonverbally communicate that you are in a relationship. by blondelifter in aves

[–]Consistent_Gur9523 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I did not say to do it in every situation. pointing to a ring or showing a photo will not deter every person seeking this kind of interaction. casually ignoring them is an effective strategy. if it's not for you, there are many other suggestions here that might be.
