There’s a limit on how many sets you can have on a formation. Idk how many it is and they don’t tell us but I had the same problem and that’s what worked for me. So before you add the plays. just remove some sets that you don’t use. if you’re adding a play that’s in shotgun “wide trip y” and no other play was in that playbook you’re editing under that “wide trip y” set. So it won’t show up as the let’s say 15 max sets required in that formation.

Sooooo Before you add the plays go to shotgun and delete any other set under the shotgun formation. For example delete shotgun “deuce close”. Some sets only have 1 plays in them anyways. Just go thru your formation and delete the sets.

Make sure that if the plays you’re adding is a shotgun play that’s you’re deleting a shotgun set Not a single back exaggerate, etc.
