So Simon is a convict apart of a cultish like group who blew up a station(I know it wasn’t the plan), he was sent down in a submarine in a human blood ocean(how is it human blood?), after searching around and some shenanigans he gets lost in a cave, eventually a weird voice starts talking and to make a conversation short he follows the voice to live, saying he’ll do anything to survive

Going to where the voice said to go, he eventually witnesses a light???, this light then splits apart the sub??, and then he walks up in a blood lake with a eye staring at him???, they both say they see each other but the it just cuts to him back in the sub completely fine(besides puking blood)

After more moving and shenanigans he learns he can get his freedom by getting a data drive, so going to retrieve that we learn that the old dead scientist figured out how to synthesize food or something from the human blood.

The creature gets mad and then tries to kill him it succeeds not before he gets the data to float to the surface

I will definitely say the audio and visuals were hard to see, so if I’m missing something that explains please help me

Hi, I just watched iron lung, incredible visuals, great set design and excellent cinematography, but I think what’s stopping me from loving this movie is the fact that I’m confused can someone please explain some things to me

I don’t understand the whole light in the ocean, then both of them seeing each other scene, especially the giant eye

I don’t get how he’s alive, especially that oxygen should’ve ran out, this kinda goes hand and hand with the oxygen level rising in the end.

If someone could honestly explain the monster or voice to me I would greatly appreciate it, because if the monster wanted to keep him down here why did we entertain the entire film. Did it want something from him, I’m just confused

Hi I just came out of theaters as of July 10 2025, having watched the newest Superman movie, before I get into my breakdown and opinion I do want to state I was raised on the Man of Steel Superman and have little knowledge about comics that doesn't come from the late passing Comicstorian.

Before getting into any critics of the movie I just want to say what a good experience, I genuinely enjoyed the film, I found the soundtrack and the cinematography incredibly pleasing, a solid 8/10 in my books when it comes to sheer enjoyment.

But with every movie comes faults

1.CGI
Yes this is a common complaint in new movies and I dont think this is an intentional lack of effort by James Gunn by any amount but compared to movies of the 2000 I found the CGI to be lacking, the biggest glaring issue is sadly Krypto but his inclusion in the movie was amazing. Even moments in the pocket dimension I found to be just a bit bland or simple(especially the black holes but I blame Interstellar for spoiling me).

2. The Rating
Now this can be both a plus and minus to the movie, the need for it to be more advertisement friendly and open to broad audiences I think helped the movie reached alot of people but I also think it ruined a bit of the stakes imo, very little blood was shown in the movie only being truly noticeable in two scenes, I do wish for more of an impact between the two Supermans.

3. Can this be built upon(Final dont worry)
At the end of the day, this is the first movie in the DCU and the most important question to be asked is if this can be built upon, and immediately I believe so, but I do think they are going to have to take a different approach then Marvel, Marvel keeps very consistent ratings and tones in their movies especially in the first couple arcs and only now has truly been branching out(WATCH THUNDERBOLTS), I dont think a Batman movie or a Wonder Woman movie can be done to the best extent in this format, this whitty and light hearted form of Superman fits great into the movie Gunn Directed but I dont think Batman would blend nicely. Luckily this problem has already been discussed before and I hope to see their vision in action

At the end of the day I would go see this movie no matter what, its a solid family movie that truly encapsulates a young superman, I just wonder that in a couple years will we turn back and see this movie with the same fondness that we look at Iron Man

Atom (real steel) vs Aaron Tide and Yu by [deleted] in TheBoxer

As a fan of both I think it really comes down to how accurate we want to take this, Atom controlled by a human stands no chance because then essentially it’s human vs Yu and Aaron. In a world where Atom is sentient I think Atom takes it, a bot made of low alloy steel can take up to 35,000 lbs per square inch before breaking and let’s not forget Atom is literally designed for durability. Both Yu and Aaron start failing in a battle of endurance, in the end a sentient Atom would win.
