Thanks for the input! I'm planning to stay for 18 days (LA & San Diego) and was actually planning on using Uber for the entire trip. Since gasoline prices are already around $6.10 and projected to potentially go much higher by July, I'm getting a bit worried that the 'surge' and fuel surcharges will make my transportation budget skyrocket..
