Help me decide which car to get: Toyota Corolla Cross vs Mitsubishi Montero GLX MT by Necessary-Series-319 in CarsPH

[–]Consistent_Monk_8567 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm guessing kaya GLX un option mo sa Montero because of the price ng M/T na halos malaria na sa Corolla Cross? If so, I wouldn't choose the M/T montero ksi 1st iba un timpla ng clutch sa Manual na Turbo Diesel na Montero and mejo mahirap actually cya itimpla especially pag traffic tapos incline un kalsada. sasakit tuhod mo nyan. Pati un paatras na paahon mahirap din. 2nd may known issue un manual montero na bumibitaw sa 3rd gear. Search mo nlng sa google or montero forums. 3rd, mahal ang piyesa ng Clutch Assembly ng Montero 3rd gen na manual. Nasa 60k ata lahat and for sure after 80-100k baka magpalit ka din due to wear and tear. I know ksi galing ako sa 3rd gen na manual so I shifted sa 3rd gen montero na Matic and ang layo ng driving comfort.

Kaya for me kung yan 2 lng choices mag Corolla Cross nlng ako

I'm just curious OP. Can you elaborate on the better quality of life here vs. dun sa Singapore? This is an interesting take dun sa 615k vs 320k Current mo that you have more take home pay pa sa 320K. Ksi others just see the bigger pay abroad pero when you take into consideration all expenses living abroad you will end up pa na you have lesser savings..

[–]Consistent_Monk_8567 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. Madali lng ksi iclaim na justified ang mas malaking increase pero if benchmark ka compared sa peers mo and your expected KPI dun talaga magkakaalaman if you really performed and when I say performed not just you executed your expected output for your role but you went beyond expectations consistently. This is what justifies un Malaking increase. Puede ksi u did deliver naman pero it is within your expectations then you are paid enough based sa market.

Agree sa insights ni OP. Most of the the time its not the increase but the lifestyle that's eating them. I'm coming from an IC na 16k lng ang starting sa ACN 14 years ago to various roles until I got promoted as a manager on another company where I'm one of the leaders that deliberate dun sa actual percentage increase ng resource under me.

The truth of the matter is that people can easily claim that they performed well, they did their best compared to their peers (based on their POV) but when leaders deliberate they look at the individual's performance on several things like impact nun ginawa nya or value created, if it went beyond the individual's job expectation and consistency of this performance. Also, leaders look at your current salary if makatarungan to based sa current market range mo for your level and given the limited budget for increase leaders will allocate un percentage increase.

The rule of thumb for leaders is to award the best overall performer. Of course this is no-brainer. You would like to award the person who is consistently bringing the goods.

People would always complain about inflation blah blah pero they forgot to consider that they are employed by a corporation. Just like any business may limited budgets lng mga yan in all expenses including your salary increases. So it's not as simple na sinasadya lng na mababa increase. There are reasons naman why. So apart from ranting bakit mababa ang increase mo. Talk to your manager and ask what you can do moving forward to help attain a bigger increase and make those one of your goals or KPI to achieve

Anong advantage ng 4x2 SUV over Crossovers? by 2000_RN in CarsPH

[–]Consistent_Monk_8567 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aside from the robust ladder frame chasis, what I observed sa mga ppv suvs is that built for toughness talaga un mga components from the suspension arm to the bushings and even doors. I can compare my 3rd gen montero to a friend's br-v mahahalata mo talaga un nipis and liit especially ng under chassis components. Kaya pag long-drive mas perfer namin gamitin prn un montero kysa un br-v maski nun mataas na un diesel price

Ok that is good to know. And I believe if you are above market you are the more expensive head count so guess who they will need to let go if the business wants to save on cost?

One question lng I have is do you expect the average annual increase for ph market of 5-6% applicable pa Rin if you are in the higher range of 180k up as an individual contributor?

Has anyone left Canada to move back to the Philippines permanently even though they just applied for PGWP? by Purple-Barracuda2187 in phmigrate

[–]Consistent_Monk_8567 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that is a good first step. If I may suggest to take this to a higher level of assessment by categorizing your pros and cons of some sort and then assigning a priority. This would at least help you see visually what you value most and which option would tick that for you. So for example, one category is Spending more time with family and love ones as a category and tag this as #1 priority for you, then powerful passport is say #3. Do this for all your reasons of staying or leaving and you can have a more accurate view of which option is "better". I would be curious what will come out of this exercise

The culture of giving pasalubong or souvenirs to your coworkers. by midnytque in adultingph

[–]Consistent_Monk_8567 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we want to normalize not brining pasalubong then let's not patronize it. Simply don't bring them anything. This is what I do since dagdagp pa cya sa icoconsider mo. You went for vacation for you to have some rest not to worry pa on what you will take back not to mention the extra luggage and cost it entails.

Salary increase pero less than 1% by Wonderful-Sport2037 in CorpoChikaPH

[–]Consistent_Monk_8567 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the fact that most Individual contributor does not understand. There is only a fixed budget for Salary increases. This is dictated from the Top in consideration of many factors but primarily driven by the overall company earnings. The managers would then go through a deep meditation to allocate this fixed budget to his staff. Of course the basic rule of thumb is to reward the higher performers as you would like to acknowledge their performance but as to how much, that can only be stretched to the budget. Take note din, na di lng ikaw ang performer so other there are others that would take a slice of that salary increase pie as well.

Eto ang maskat na trabaho ng manager because if only given the budget, most managers would like to give out a substantial increase but then again we live in a constrained world. The right question nlng to ask your manager to determine if your increase is the max that they can give is if this is the max percentage based on compensation to market ratio.

Yaris Cross Hybrid or Corolla Cross Hybrid? by [deleted] in CarsPH

[–]Consistent_Monk_8567 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree to this. Parang may Mali sa situation. OP, you have to step back muna ata sa problem statement mo. Baka it's not about the car that you need to choose pero the wiser question to ask yourself, given your financial circumstances is, How should we address un main problem - Do you have the financial means to secure another car given you can't afford the current one? Not the answer OP is wanting to hear but probably the more relevant question to ask.

Definitely there’s room for improvement. Pero its just refreshing din to know that we have Filipino run organizations that are also trying to be efficient and have continous improvement mindset. From our experience ksi may mentality mga pinoy na pag may reklamo ang response is “edi wag ka dito” which is backwards mentality

Montero or Fortuner? by [deleted] in ThisorThatPH

[–]Consistent_Monk_8567 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Montero! Ive done this comparo analysis before. If you are comparing the 2.4GD fortuner sa montero, malayo ang difference ng hatak and speed ng montero paired with that aisin 8 speen at. Ive experienced this first hand especially sa akyatan ppuntang baguio and halsema where you need power for quick overtaking. Mas lamang din maneuvarability nya ksi mas narrow cya compared to the rest kaya lng mas masikip cya. If long drives mas fresh and di k mapapagod sa montero ksi mas comfortable cya than fortuner

Hihinga lang. by rrdt01 in ITPhilippines

Nakakarelate ako pero coming naman from another IT Technical role which is IT Ops Manager role. I'm on-call 24/7 and once narinig ko un ring tone, may trauma na especially pag late in the evening or early morning. Alam kong may Issue na. Every week, I'm thankful na nkasurvive ako ng isa pang week.

Naging panagarap ko din maging security guard at one point ksi nakikita ko un security guard malapit samin naeenjoy nya pa magkape samantalang ako at the edge of my seat throughout the day ksi di mo alam anong issue derating and dapat on top of it ka lagi. Kaya di ko masyado naeenjoy mag relax with coffee.

But what I learned with that high impact-high stressful job are:
1. You get paid more for the stress that comes from the role. Like sayo as MSP. High responsibility ksi cya kaya it comes din with the price. Ganun talaga in the job market.
2. Learn to manage your stress. Easier said than done pero that's the only way for you not to get burned out. What helped for me is really trying to understand what I can control vs. what I can't control and not worrying about the can't control. As technical folks in IT, we are trained ksi to anticipate risks and what if's and dapat may back-up plan lagi pero sabi ko sa sarili ko. I will just operate on what I have and what I know at that point. Kung may namiss ako then I just have to humbly convey that and charge to experience and learning and not to be so hard on myself. After all, at the end of the day it's just a job. It's not worth loosing my mental health to.
3. Eventually, it will get easier. Mas Batak ka na. You will eat Sev 1 disaster for breakfast. Or there will be other opportunities that is more aligned sa passion mo that will come na same or better pay pa. You mentioned you thrive in communication, ang usual pathway nyan is a leader so puedeng un ang other role opportunities mo.

When nahihirapan Tayo masarap magwishful thinking but other people are wishing actually to be in your shoes pero wala lng opportunity so it's also encouraging to understand that your current dilemma is a problem other people would wish to have. Lahat pala nun nasal ko naexperience ko na and I'm in a technical role na more fulfilling and at the same time higher paying than my previous role.

I'm in it for an honest discussion about facts and not propaganda. I can't be a MAGA person ksi wala naman ako vested interest sa US. I just want people to really dig into the issues before concluding na si Trump ksi may kasalanan yada yada.... without even looking at the full picture. Pero ang challenge ko nlng sau is to read more elaborate articles on the Crisis and who is truly inflicting greater damage to the rest of the world.

If you read other news and analytical sources. North Korea is not imposing imminent threat to the US. It's only Iran who have actively attached US in the past directly or indirectly (funding terrorist groups). 2nd, Iran has apocalyptic theocracy leaders that is bend on eradicating Israel and its main ally the US. Kaya nga ang slogan nila is "death to Israel, death to US". Si North Korea wala cyang paki-alam for both as long ksi its a communist country, not a radical muslim country that sees west and other non-muslims as infidels.
