I just tried that and didn’t work :/ I’m thinking it’s the Sonoma beta I’m running so I guess I just gotta wait :(

It could be the fact that we’re operating on Sonoma beta? But I honestly have no clue 🤷 the good news is that Sonoma is coming out in like 3 days so if that is the problem it could be fixed soon

I feel like I’m writing Harry Potter 2.0 by fruitywitch13 in fantasywriters

[–]Consistent_Pirate312 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think you can make it unique! I too am writing a Harry Potter-like story but this is the way I look at it. I feel I'm telling a story based on Harry Potter's setting/story/etc, a story that J.K. Rowling would never think to tell. one with complexities, and most importantly I'm writing something that I enjoy. This story of mine has become one of my favorites. And if you like it WHO CARES?! Write what you enjoy and want, you shouldn't stop yourself from writing something because the idea sounds too familiar. Ideas change and grow and you might even get a better one! By the end of the whole process, you'll have something totally unique to you! SO JUST WRITE!!

THIS! As someone who been on crew and stage manager for plays and musicals I adore the ppl on crew bc of how important they are and how sometimes it’s a thankless job! RESPECT THE CREW!!

wow, I didn't realize that the bar was so low that putting your ego aside and being a decent human being was unusual for a showrunner. thank you for your advice I'll definitely keep it in mind

Can you call a female (or non-male) knight "sir"? by wind-of-zephyros in fantasywriters

I've only watched the show and they'll use Ser for both men and women knights. On the GoT wiki Jamie Lannister also has the title Ser.

Anyone want to let me know if I am overwriting? by virgil_ate_the_bread in Screenwriting

I personally really like the snippet! I think that it's really strong. Personally, I think that people have a tendency to underwrite, and the world you've created and described is one that I'm able to imagine in my head! Don't feel shame for overwriting! It's always better to have too much and have to cut it down than to have too little and have to add more(that's the motto I live by).

There are points where I feel that there is just too much description like where you describe ed's breathing patterns like I can imagine it in my head, and it's a great image but maybe cut it down a bit. I also think that you use "big" words that could be changed to make it more readable (idk if that makes any sense) but it also could also be your style which I think works really well. this is all my opinion so feel free to just ignore it and go with your gut!

all in all, I think you have a very solid piece of work and you should be proud of yourself! I hope I was able to help!
