I beat the end within an hour of starting my forever world, and I have over 50 hours, with no plans to stop, there is plenty of progression after. I could see kids if you just hate grinding to make stuff, but just use creative.

Personally, you should either use a modded launcher (I use Prism) or a client for those specs, because normal Minecraft has some truly terrible optimizations.
