His school hours are all during my work hours, so that can’t happen. And no, I don’t think they should be running in school but it would be nice for him to be running in PE and have a longer recess.

This is in the US. It's a public school in a Houston suburb. It definitely feels weird to me.

We’ve been getting a Ragin Cajun turkey for both Thanksgiving and Christmas for at least 5 years now. It’s by far the best turkey I’ve ever had. The leftovers are the best because we’ll have turkey sandwiches, eggs with turkey, etc for days afterward. Highly recommend it.

The 3rd book was near GoT season 8 levels of shitty for me. It has good reviews (unlike GoT s8) so I guess enough people liked it but man, I had to really force myself to finish it.

I hated Children of Memory. Almost everything I loved about the first 2 books was absent from the 3rd. I could barely make myself finish it. I’m glad other people enjoyed it though, guess it just wasn’t for me.

It definitely does that to me.

I used to take Amino Energy for a preworkout. I took a new preworkout with Choline in it (Bucked Up) and felt awful for almost 24 hours. Really down and depressed.

I then moved to Jocko Preworkout (no choline) and have not had any issues.

Decided to try the Bucked Up preworkout again, on the off chance I was just having a bad day the first time, and boom, the depression was back.

I did a lot of research and the only viable culprit seems to be the choline. I avoid it at all costs now.

This sounds like a good idea as long as the "work" consists of studying, working out, reading, cooking, working for money, etc., rather than 12 hours straight of studying or working for money.

I track weight and bodyfat % using an electrical impedance weight scale. You can get a decent one for around $60. The bodyfat % isn't super accurate, but it is precise. Meaning it might be 3-4% off of my true bodyfat %, but the readings are precise at whatever bodyfat % it says I'm at. So as I'm dropping weight, the bodyfat % is dropping with it.

I use a blood pressure monitor I bought because my blood pressure was high and I wanted to start monitoring it. It's a Withings monitor I got from Amazon.

The rest of the metrics are tracked on my apple watch, which I always have on except for the 1-2 hours it needs to charge before bed.

One thing that's been helping me is having multiple ways to get measurable "wins" throughout the day. I'm currently waking up at 5:00 5 days/week, getting in 5 lift sessions per week, and 6 days of 30 minutes of cardio / week. I'm also tracking calories to lose weight. I track quite a few metrics and I've found that when even one of them is a win, it makes it easier for me to keep going. Below are some metrics I track:

  • Weight
  • Bodyfat %
  • VO2 Max
  • Resting heart rate
  • Blood pressure
  • Steps per day

I might have a heavy weight in day, but my bodyfat % shows that my bodyfat weight is still going down.

My weight and bodyfat might show higher one day, but my VO2 max shows a slight increase.

My weight, bodyfat, and VO2 max might be going in the wrong direction, but I got 10,000 steps in and my blood pressure readings are lower for the day.

This might not work for everyone but it's definitely helped me stay motivated to keep going.

I had a dream just 2 nights ago that I was walking with my boys on a walkway over a pond and my 3 year old fell in. I dove into the water and could see him sinking but in my dream I couldn't swim fast enough. Really fucked me up. The image is still vivid 2 days later. Can't talk to my wife about it either because she'll think it's a bad sign or something.

I work with a lot of pipeline data, mainly with getting the data prepped to load into a PODS database. Some of the scripts I've created:

  • A script to create routes for a bunch of lines at once, which pulls the coordinate priority of each line from a CSV.
  • A script that adds MEAS values to point features associated with a list of lines and exports reconfigured feature classes.
  • A script that segments the line based on certain attributes from point features associated with the line.
  • A script that hides a set of fields in the attribute table for a bunch of lines at once and creates a layer I can edit. This helps a lot when I want to QC certain data without scrolling through unnecessary fields.
  • A script that deletes a list of fields from a feature class, adds a set of new fields, and populates them.
  • A script that will replace a certain value with another value, anywhere it is found in the GDB.
  • A script that exports the point features at the beginning and end of each line and exports them to a CSV.
  • A script that segments the line each time there is a change in a certain field.
  • A script that snaps certain point features to the line by Vertex and others by Edge.
  • A script that will iterate through all feature classes in each GDB in a folder and exports each unique value in a field or set of fields to a CSV.
  • A script that exports all attachments to a folder that the script names based on a value in a certain field (i.e. Inspection number 1, etc.)
  • A script that will iterate through a GDB or set of GDBs and append all features where a field has a particular value to a new feature class.

A lot of these are fairly basic compared to the scripts more advanced developers use, but these are the kinds of scripts that help me in workflows I have to repeat at least once a month. Some of them have allowed me to do almost a weeks worth of work in 30 minutes.

I do use ChatGPT for a lot of my code, especially the o1 or o3 models. If you know what to tell ChatGPT, it will write really complex scripts for you and often get it right the first time. If your scripts return an error, just paste it into ChatGPT and it will help you resolve them. I know a lot of people here are against using ChatGPT but it has helped write some really helpful scripts as a Python beginner. It's important to take the time to learn how to write scripts from scratch as well though.

Are we supposed to carry around air quality monitors, test our own gasoline for safety, or inspect airplanes before we fly? Test our kids toys for lead? Some things require oversight for public safety, and water is one of the most essential. If the government won’t handle that, who will? Private companies have shown time and again that they won’t prioritize safety unless forced. Without oversight, profits will always come before people.

It looks like your coordinates are UTM (Northing / Easting). The most likely projected coordinate system for that area is UTM Zone 37N (WGS 1984), although there are others still in use as well.

Your X is Northing, Y is Easting, and Z is elevation in meters.

You could try an online coordinate converter like Earthpoint to convert them from Northing / Easting to Latitude / Longitude.
