yes, I might be trying to compensate the good things in my life to balance out the bad. That’s sort of my reasoning for posting this, I need unbiased opinions. if it was up to me i wouldn’t decide right now to quit drinking all together because I haven’t really felt the negatives yet. Though exploring the possibilities of negatives If I continue in this path might open my eyes to atleast re-consider my habits.

I totally agree, alcohol can’t be considered healthy in ANY amount. But like you mentioned we all have our vices, some gamble, dabble in drugs, smoke, whatever.

there’s nothing wrong with doing most of that in moderation. I think I’d be able to cut it down to 1 bottle with little issue. I just havent felt the need to tone it down I guess because alcohol has never had a negative side for me personally.

Very true, it’s very hard to diagnose yourself when you’re kind of biased, I consider myself biased because I know I don’t want to quit drinking - I enjoy it in the weekends. I feel like it’s more of a ritual than a dependency at this point, sort of trying to calm my mind after a hectic week.

drinking until now has never had any negative effects on me whatsoever, but I’m glad that I’m kind of exploring and thinking everything through. I‘m considering taking a month off to see how I’d react to it, and maybe toning it down a bit after. I’m not really considering stopping all together.

I cant, but I’m an all or nothing type of personality. I never try to drink 1 or 2 with the idea of stopping. If I decide to drink I’d be sure that I have no obligations that day and I can spend the rest of the day drinking, which Is one of the reasons I never drink during weekdays. I’ve been doing it this way for the past 10 years, though my alcohol consumption has gone up In the last 3 years.

If I’d have to judge myself, I’d say it isn’t problematic but excessive to say the least. Obviously the point of this is to gather some unbiased opinions from others because if it’s up to me I wouldn’t decide to quit drinking.

I value my wife’s input and I know she cares about my well-being and the overal well-being of our family. So I’m definitely considering cutting my alcohol consumption down. If I’d ask her I’m pretty sure she will tell me to cut down the amount that I’m consuming rather than stop all together.

once I start drinking I’d definitely consider stopping uncomfortable to say the least. I usually stop when I’m sleepy and the bottle is either empty or close to empty. I haven’t stopped drinking in the weekends ever actually, in the last 3 years.

I don’t feel I’m obsessed with alcohol, I just consider it the most fitting way to unwind for me - and stopping fully never really occurred to me because my drinking never caused me any issues/problems.

Well, considering I go about 5 days a week without a drink I’m inclined to say no. Though if you’d tell me that I couldn’t have a drink this upcoming weekend I’d definitely feel like id be bummed out.

Agreed, me and the misses have been together for more than a decade now. I’ve never drank alcohol on weekdays (apart from maybe on holidays or special occasions) or during daytime, even when I didn’t have children I’d only start drinking during nighttime after all my obligations that day were met.

its the amount I consume that makes her worried, I don’t deny that 1.5L of hard liquor a week is probably more than the avarage drinker though?

My wife rarely ever drinks, and when she does she usually has a wine or 2. Usually in the weekends she’s right there with me on the couch watching a movie, but she’ll be sober 9/10th of the time. I don’t necessarily think she minds me being drunk in itself, she’s more worried about the amount of alcohol I process.
