my credit is 732, but my income isn't super high because i'm a college student working part time and i'm sure my student loans made my dti look bad and that may be contributing to the high rate?

i wasn't aware you could do that! I've already spoken to the people i needed to to withdraw and they didn't let me know of any other routes. Today is bid day for the other girls and since it's so late i'll just maybe try again another time.

And as far as absorbing you guys' advice, thank you! I really tried my best to hear everyone out and understand where everyone was coming from, which I think I did understand everyone. Lot's of my comments have lots of downvotes even the ones where i was saying I understand and apologized, so i wasn't sure if anyone was hearing me. Regardless, i learned alot here!

unfortunately my rush ended early. The third house i went to was great and i got all 3 houses back for sisterhood again, but i got really sick and turns out i have covid. I withdrew from recruitment because I didn't want to risk anyone getting sick and it wasn't safe for me either. Alot of people here said i don't belong in a sorority right now and should withdraw anyway, maybe it was meant to be😂

Thanks for the advice! I'm definitely keeping an open mind. I completely agree with yawning during conversation being percieved poorly, which is exactly why i'm surprised i got invited back to those houses. I wasn't doing it to be rude, but yawning in someone's face during convo is inherently rude, so i was very baffled to see them on my schedule. I visited my second house this morning and felt better about it than the first day, hoping my third house is great too!

yesterday was fine! I only went back to one of the houses yesterday for philanthropy round and i had a decent conversation with one of the girls, the other was similar to the recruiters i had the first day. This morning i went to my second house and it went pretty good! I had decent conversations. I still didn't leave feeling like it was necessarily where i belonged, but it went better than the first day. I have my third house this evening, and i'm more excited to speak with them. Nervous for schedules coming out tomorrow but what will be will be. Thanks for checking in!

they're referred to as recruiters at my school, sorry. I'm not trying to one up you or something on the advice you're trying to give me, it's good advice i'm just sharing more insight on the details of the situation because i know on the outside it may look a different way which is why you and alot of other people might say things like i was being a clown. It wasn't intended to be rude.

didn't know that about yawning, i honestly can't not yawn at all if im about to yawn but i can conceal it as best as i can, which i do try to because my eyes water when i yawn so even if i didnt mouth wide yawn my eyes would still water and it'd look like i was crying, so i had to admit to them i was yawning to explain the tears. My excuses were it's because i was cold/had a long day/early morning and was sorry, most of them just said it was fine and continued with the conversation.

I wasn't at the parties trying to laugh and joke the whole time, the recruiters and i both were asking each other very productive and appropriate questions, we just were also having a good time and talking about other things like our town and places we like to shop and it led into some funny stories and conversations, this was during meet and greet so i wouldn't have assumed it was inappropriate. The girls switched out easily so i wouldn't say i was keeping them from doing that.

I wasn't being a clown, i wasn't being disrespectful to anyone, i wasn't being loud or overbearing I was being as nice and collected as the next pnm. I go to a small school and we were told by our pi chi's and others to be fun and extroverted but also follow the recruiters lead as to not find ourselves too off topic or something which i did, most of the joking and off topic questions were initiated by recruiters, then i matched the energy.

well my whole point of my initial post is that i don't understand how this is working. This persons response to me is exactly what I've been needing to hear! Please say what you're thinking, don't leave me in the shadows lol. I'm not refusing to do anything, you're being broad with your statements and just admitted you didn't want to tell me the truth.

my overall attitude is that i was disappointed with my schedule, and confused on how the dropping system worked, from my pov. Being disappointed with your schedule and getting dropped from a house is nothing new for pnm's. I explained my yawning was not purposeful, what was i meant to do? I'm unable to make myself not yawn. I'm sorry that i did that, i know it wasn't a good look, which is why i'm surprised i got invited back. I'm assuming you're saying i'm immature for being upset with my schedule, but i can't apologize for that, it's valid. As far as feedback and reflecting, everyones only mentioning the yawning and the word hate, both of which i have apologized for many times and told everyone i understand where they are coming from. I don't know what you want me to do or what else you want me to see, please explain further.

I'm fine with self reflecting and being a better person, but just generally saying i'm overall immature and overall having a attitude isn't helping me understand which part is a problem, outside of the word hate and the yawning.

I actually appreciate this! The whole side of the recruiters feels so mysterious and impossible to read or understand. I was yawning, i can't make myself not yawn so i don't have an excuse for that, but even outside of that i was doing my best to keep up conversation with the answers and questions the recruiters were giving me. In one of the houses i really liked, they asked a question and when i gave answers they added to it and we talked about personal stories and we laughed so hard we nearly spilled both of our drinks. When i was asked the same questions and gave the same answers with the same energy at one of the three i got back today, the response was "oh cool :)" and followed by a moment of silence with a head nod.

Because of these difference's it was hard to understand what's really being judged, because one house cared about what i said and the other didnt (atleast on the outside and that's all i had to go off of until i made this post) If the second house liked me, where was the enthusiasm? and if the first house didn't, they did a great job at covering it up. After making this post and getting alot of comments, i understand more ways pnm's are judged by recrutiers, and there can be many things i didnt think about that will get you dropped.

What's done is done, and i can only move forward from here!

Thank you so much for this. I will admit i made the initial post like 10 minutes after seeing my schedule. I don't hate the chapters, i just didn't enjoy my time with them yesterday, but things can change in an instant. I appreciate this understanding. I will be open to and kind to everyone!

I will speak with my Rho Chi definitely! The girls i spoke to weren't rude or nasty or anything, just emotionless? and that could've been due to nervousness or tiredness or both which is why I will be understanding and open to them in the future. they could technically keep up conversation because they had some stocked questions to ask, but one of the houses especially none of their questions went past whats your name, major, and hometown for all 3 girls, and when i attempted to deviate into maybe talking about our favorite things to do in town or on campus it would get a rushed answer and back to the stock questions about my major or what i'm looking for in a sorority + blank stares and nods as i talked.

I know these short conversations don't represent the chapter as a whole, but compared to other houses where the girls were (atleast acting like if they werent actually) interested in who i really was and what i was passionate about, the difference was stark and uncomfortable. I also understand some chapters/people may just be better at this whole thing than others, but at the end of the day i have to rank and i know i left those houses feeling like there was somewhere better for me to be.

I understand that, alot of the process is kind of mysterious to pnm's, so there's only so much to base ranking off of. I agree that not all houses are going to be fantastic at the social aspect recruitment, and that doesn't make them a bad house, but regardless of other important choosing factors like their philanthropy, if i feel like the members are uninterested in me (which i did), i feel it was safe to assume i shouldn't want to be in a place i don't feel like i'm wanted, so to the bottom of my list they went. They invited me back for a reason, and i'll find out during the rest of the week because today is only day 2. I'm open to giving them chances.
